Room is in great condition with great view, location is also excellent, however what really shines through is their unparalled hospitality and services, special shout out to 和华 at reception desk whom went the extra mile to take care of our last min day trip planning and arranging of driver, subsequently follow up closely through ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.

The hotel is located 1 km from the ancient town and is a 10-15 minute drive to the train station. The room was comfortable, and the water pressure and heater worked perfectly. The Wi-Fi was very stable as well. (For foreigners, do bear in mind, if you connect to hotel wifi, you would need to connect to VPN in order to use WhatsApp, IG or Youtube) This is a 9-year-old property, so there are some flaws that can be improved, but that is understandable. My only feedback is about the F&B restaurant; they only have one all-day dining option. Breakfast was alright, with more of a local selection. I stayed for two nights. On the first day, there was staff available to help me and serve my cafe latte order. However, on the second day, I did not see any staff on standby, so I had to make my own cafe latte (I had to froth the milk), which I found awkward. I wish the staff were more well trained, but I understand it is low season and the hotel probably hired part-timers for service. The best highlight of my stay was meeting a lady named Rose He, who is part of the guest services team (i think). She made recommendations on where to go and even found us a local driver to take us around. She was extremely kind and polite. We exchanged WeChat information, and she texted me when the weather turned cold or rainy. She also helped us to arrange complimentary transportation to the train station. It felt personalized. Shangri-La, if you are reading this, I believe she deserves a token of appreciation. She is the true star and a great example of “hospitality.” Overall, we were happy with our stay. Thank you.

Very cool to stay at Shangrila in Shangri-La🤩 very nice welcome ceremony at the reception area. Also it was my birthday so the hotel gave me a cake for free.

The receptionist was very rude to us and not a single member of the staff spoke English. They couldn’t find our booking and demanded (in Chinese) that we’d solve the matter by ourselves. I had to use my mobile data to call trip.com customer service multiple times to find out what was wrong. The receptionist at Shangrila was very unhelpful. I was on the phone and struggling with altitude sickness so i didn’t even notice that the receptionist forgot to give me back my passport and I got it back only the next day. I complained to the hotel chain’s customer service about the matter and their suggestion was to just book directly through them next time, so it seems like subpar customer service is their normal standard. I would not recommend staying here because you can get significantly better customer service and value for your money just about anywhere else.

It has been such an amazing stay at Shangri-La Resort thanks to the wonderful hotel amenities and service provided by Rose. The moment we reached, we were greeted by Rose, who introduced us to all the hotel facilities - our favourite was the oxygen lounge to help visitors cope with the high altitude! We also enjoyed our cultural immersive experience with Rose; she is very knowledgeable and shared plenty of interesting facts about the culture of Yunnan province. Rose also went the extra mile to take care of us and helped to arranged our entire itinerary during our 3 days at Shangri-La, from booking the tour, car and driver to ensuring that we arrive at our destination safely. Our overall experience was perfect thanks for the hospitality of Rose. Would highly recommend everyone to stay at Shangri-La resort if they are visiting Shangri-La!
