The hotel is in a convenient location and has excellent access to the subway, restaurants, and bars. The hotel interior is subpar. There is a serious plumbing issue in some rooms that creates a stench so bad it will have you requesting to change rooms. Housekeeping needs retraining because my room had no bath towels, and the toilet had not been cleaned. The toilet seat had mysterious dark spots that might have you concerned about contracting a disease. The toilet seat was soaking wet as well.
Because of the above issues I requested to speak with the on duty manager. A gentleman came to see me and was introduced as the manager, but after a few questions it became clear the concierge had lied about the position of the employee talking to me. After I caught their dishonesty, they apologised and said he was the house keeping manager. A new room was organised for me. Despite being moved to a new room, the poor quality of the hotel continued. The bathroom towels were so “well used” that the seams had split. The towels were also rough upon the skin that had me feeling they should be used as sandpaper rather than for human use. The bathroom sink was also blocked. And the housekeeping didn’t replenish toothbrushes and vanity kits daily.
The hotel asks us to pay a deposit in case we break something. I seriously believe the hotel should pay the guests a deposit in case the hotel experience ruins the guest’s vacation experience. This is definitely the situation that occurred to me. As a Marriott hotel, I’m deeply disappointed by my experience at a Moxy Insadong. I will not be staying at this hotel again and I recommend others to try other hotels in the area.
