Rivelyn Hotel Bar & Restaurant

The Rivelyn was as they say VFM you get what you pay for generally.Hotel was very quiet being early january so we suspect we got one of the better rooms 117 probably the one in pic . On opening door i was taken aback by size of bed it was huge 7foot wide room was large and spacious with a bathroom with large walk in shower wc and sink with illuminated mirror above .Lots of drawer space 14 large drawers and a walk in wardrobe with loads of space. Largish tv on wall . Tea and coffee making facility and a hairdryer in one of drawers. decoration was pleasant not posh by any means but being a budget hotel it was adequate.Clean and bed was very comfortable.Lift to all floors although it was the smallest lift i ever saw (3 person ) or me and one other.Breakfast was fantastic on two occasions lots of content as much tea coffee and juice as you wanted for £1.50 breakfast varied dependant on size but mega was less than £10 including drinks 3 bacon 3 sausage 3 fried bread eggs beans tomatoes .on the last day breakfast was dire same amounts but foods all different temperature ranging from Mushrooms being stone cold to Eggs being warm enough ,sausage beans and toms barely warm and waited well over 20 mins even though only us and one other chap being served, Fantastic breakfast was a lady the dire example was a youngish chap . Staff generally very good bar staff in particular (Emma) i think Hotel is just out of town a 5-10 minute walk dependant on fitness of the walker .In a good spot i feel fairly handy for the Port a 5 min walk and bus to whitby was 10 mins .Would i stay again ? Most definitely .Hotel has scaffolding all round as refurb ongoing .

We came here for Christmas week and it has been a wonderful experience. We got a big double room with a very comfortable bed. On Christmas Day we had the most amazing Christmas dinner courtesy of Linda and Adele. This hotel offers unbeatable value for money.

We normally stay here but alas a lot of refurbishment was going on so we will have to wait till next year. But good news the public bar was still open so we were able to join the friendly staff and customers for drinks and a bar meal. We will be returning.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in staff are friendly lovely extremely helpful cleaners are friendly and good for a chat.some of the guests are quite noisy and rude apart from that it's a great place. Rooms are clean warm on a night time and got a bath which is better than a shower

An amazing hotel, Has everything the large hotels have but a budget price 😀 Good breakfast but didn't have evening meal. Great location too 👍 Linda helped us with what's on and where to go which was helpful. Really lovely staff We were for there for three nights and hotel was quite at night which helped as the walks we did were long. Seagulls were early but you'd expect that at a seaside town

You cannot go wrong for the price you pay. The staff are all lovely and personable, rooms have been (at the time of writing) recently redecorated and look lovely with nice colour schemes and a nice, comfortable bed, hot shower, easy to use Freeview telly, nice tea and coffee, wardrobe, bed side tables, lamps and good thick curtains. It feels really nice to stay there - we were very comfortable. Going back to the hotel in the afternoon then later at night was really pleasant, I actually looked forward to it. After the pub we'd lay in bed watching Bullseye on Challenge TV and it was just like being at home. Lovely! The lounge is really comfortable and pleasant to sit in, and a safe spot to leave your luggage before you check in and after you check out. The dining and bar areas are also nice, with plenty of space, and it's all very clean and has that traditional seaside B&B feel that's so welcoming. A small but reliable lift is a nice bonus if you're tired or less able bodied! It's fine going from the hotel to elsewhere in Scarborough, but coming back can be a bit of a trek if you're less able bodied or unprepared for the walk.
