PARKING CAN SOMETIMES BE AN ISSUE, which is endemic in the Scarborough central area.

Reception staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing.
I’ve stayed here a few times before as it’s a nice central location. Parking outside is only short stay. There’s a long stay at the end of the road. £12 for 24hours. A few things let this lovely hotel down, cigarette butt ends outside, bathroom had areas of mould. The bed wasn’t right comfy. Outside noise early in the morning, e.g seagulls. But if you’re looking for a reasonably priced central located Hotel, you can’t really go wrong with this one.

Don't expect 5 star when your paying for 2 star.location is great if you want bars and shopping, walking down the hill to the beach is great can always get tram £1-50 back up.The hotel is dated and definitely needs some TLC.No good going early to check in unless you have paid for early check in as no one on reception.Julie and Ellen were great at checking you in and were working as fast as they could.Lots of little staircases up to room from lift, so make sure if you have mobility problems to check first .The room was basic and clean,Did have a side sea view would have been better if the windows were cleaned. complimentary tea and coffee and can refill at reception. No hairdryer or fridge. parked on nearby car park as they don't issue parking permits now cost £24 for 48hrs

Unusually for Travelodge, this place was awful. Well past its sell buy date, tired, dirty, beds worn out, cigarette butt's covering the entrance, general staff attitude come day, go day! Don't stay here until they do it up! You have been warned!

This is our forth Travelodge stay in 4 months and was by far the worst. Other lodges (London Kew Bridge, Gateshead Quayside and Edinburgh Central) have been fresh and comfortable and had friendly and welcoming staff. Sadly, Scarborough St Nicholas was almost the opposite. On arrival the desk person (Joseph) was off-hand and blunt. Ok, we arrived early and asked when the check-in might be open (other lodges have often allowed us into the rooms when they were ready a little earlier than 3pm) but Joe's responce wasn't friendly or explanatory, just blunt and 'jobsworth' - "the desk opens at 3". To be fair our dealings with other staff during our stay were much better - cleaners and other desk staff seemed friendly enough. The room we were allocated (room 138) was very poor. Current Travelodge advertising on TV talks about large double rooms. This certainly was not large - indeed the gap between one side if the bed and the window is only 40cm or so and the other dimensions were not much larger. Likewise the Travelodge site for this 'hotel' states there is a spacious desk with chair - this is not accurate. The desk is smaller than many lodges (to fit into the smaller room), meaning that there is very little space for clothes etc. Compared to the three other Travelodges we have visited recently, this room was pokey. To make matters worse, the bedroom had black-mould in two corners and was badly patch-painted on the ceiling. This room is in poor condition. The bathroom was also poor. On entry it smelled of urine. There was mould beneath the cistern unit. The shower soap dispenser did not work and fell apart. The basin soap dispenser was not filled with foaming handwash, but the awful shower-wash now used by Travelodge. There are no flat surfaces provided (shelves) for bathroom kit. The shower fittings were in poor condition and the floor was badly stained. The room was basically very tired and unpleasant. I suppose Travelodge have little control over the views from rooms but in our case, we surely got one of their worst. It looked like a bombsite! Given that this Travelodge was nowhere near full. Surely they could have allocated better rooms than this??? Maybe even one with a sea view??? It's as if they don't want visitors to come again... We certainly will not rush back and would never recommend this Travelodge to friends and relatives (except maybe as a joke, like recommending a stay in Fawlty Towers) We stayed for three nights and must admit that although the room was poor, the bed itself was clean and comfortable. The room was noisy earlier in the evenings, but thankfully, through the nights it was quiet. This was with the exception of the final night when the fire alarm went off at 6:15am, ran for a minute or so and then went off. We headed downstairs as per the fire notice but at the bottom of the stairs were told by a staff member that there was no danger and we could return to our room. We saw only two other people 'escaping'
