Aruba Ocean Villas is a magical oasis on an otherwise hot, windy desert island. My husband always wanted to visit Aruba bc he has friends who love it, but what they loved was the adventure, and he does not love that, so I kept telling him no. Luckily, I saw AOV in a travel post about overwater villas. It was the perfect vacation for us to just chill. A direct flight sealed the deal. I will echo the comments about the staff. We felt like family. We never wanted to leave. But if we stayed, we'd get too spoiled. We liked the food, especially breakfast at our villa. The restaurant was very popular with guests from other resorts. The accommodations sort of have to be experienced to understand. It is not for everyone. Think of it like glamping, if glamping were actually glamorous. Everywhere you look, it is a work of art, seamlessly blended with nature. There are the sights, sounds, breezes, water, plants, and critters of the outdoors everywhere all the time. And suddenly, in the middle of all that, some halfway decent air conditioning for a treat. No TV, minimal wifi. Perfect. We snorkeled around Isla and saw all kinds of fish. Kayaked to sea glass island. Got massages, chatted with staff and guests and restaurant customers at the bar, lazed at our villa. Explored the new construction. We left only to see the sea turtles, which I have to admit are pretty great. We returned home feeling more relaxed and refreshed than I've ever felt after a vacation, and I still daydream about it. It would be a waste to stay here if you'll be out adventuring all day long. And don't stay if you don't like house geckos in your water glass and birds nesting in the roof, lol. But if you want to relax and your heart is open to the magic, scrape up the crazy cash it takes and get yourself here.
