La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sarasota Downtown

Room key repeatedly needed re-set, I had no “do not disturb” sign, the gym was not clean, bad smell to most of the hotel. Lovely front desk staff and cheap, close to Lido beach, but I won’t book again.

This hotel appears to be in the process of some renovation. It was clean, but you can the work that is done on the rooms is not first rate. Paint overlap, haphazard grouting and sealant use. There was no privacy tag in our room to put on the door. There was an issue with the wifi that took half our stay to correct, which for me was a problem because I specifically chose a hotel that advertised wifi available to meet my business wifi needs. Breakfast was fine, better than many other La Quintas. Probably fine for a short time stay while traveling through, but I would not make it my long-term hotel for a vacation.

Everything was average. The room had an odor. The whole hotel needs a refresh. For example, the button to call the elevator was made out of plastic and half of it on the fourth floor was gone. The door knobs were loose and it was difficult to get the door open. The sofa bed had a cushion that did not fit properly and was incredibly uncomfortable.

This hotel was horrible and really unpleasant stay. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and would not let us check in early when rooms were ready. She made us sit in the lobby until 3pm and wait for hours to check in. The room itself was absolutely disgusting. The sheets were stained the couch looked like it was picked up off the side of the street. I have never stayed in a hotel room this disgusting. A really horrible experience all around.

The staff were all friendly, pleasant, and helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel didn't live up to the high level of the staff. The elevator was broken, so we had to lug our bags up to the third floor. It was fixed the second day of our stay. Our room was substandard. The bed was lumpy, uncomfortable, and sagged. The carpet had rips and stains. In the bathroom the toilet paper holder was broken away from the wall. The valve on the tub that controls the shower was frozen open, so half the water came out of the showerhead and half out of the tub faucet. The showerhead was also frozen in place, so it was impossible to adjust it to easily stand underneath the meager water flow. The refrigerator had no temperature control, so the water we put in froze by the morning. The room temperature control was noisy and didn't work well, so the room was either freezing or stuffy and warm. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff kept it well-stocked. There were very few outlets in the room, and no outlets for charging electronic devices. We would not recommend this hotel.

The room and facility was in poor repair. The toilet was leaking on the floor. The room phone didn't work. We had to change rooms. The clerk refused to give a receipt despite being asked three times. The included breakfast was of poor quality.

Check in was amazing and room appeared clean but there was a damp smell they tried to over power with a cleaner smell. Walls were paper thin and it was very noisey. Beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable (and I can sleep anywhere).

Full breakfast included, staff very friendly and helpful, bus stop right in front to get downtown. Rooms very well organized.

Business trip just a one nighter and i will not save a buck at this place. Old dingy smelly basically in need a renovation.
