Fantastic holiday what more do I need to say… Hotel is absolutely lovely, reception very welcoming and dances and drinks on arrival.. other on transfer coach were very impressed and jealous. The room was large with separate shower room with his and her sinks and toilet both very clean. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels etc.. Restaurants, pool snack bars and evening restaurants were all fantastic. The main buffet like and all inclusives had a variety of food offerings and strange combinations but no matter what the food was really nice. Loved to roast pork nights and even made a hot pork sandwich on night absolutely lovely with crackling a true Yorkshire treat . Italian restaurant food was amazing and as it was my partners birthday we had a special table to mark the day a lovely little touch.. and the hotel left a card and treats in our room on the day as well.. Thank you so much a great surprise considering I only mentioned my partners birthday in passing when booking the Italian meal. So the reception staff really did well picking up on her birthday. The BBQ night at the snack bar was great too All the hotel staff were great, very courteous and friendly. The entertainment team were just a joy working very long days but a real credit to the hotel. Angelisa (not sure I have spelt her name correctly) at the pool bar was an absolute joy alway happy, always waved to us in the morning and said morning to us.. so sorry we were unable to say goodbye to her and all the pool bar team. The only issue was the mats for the sunbeds were being cleaned or renewed so some days mats were limited but things like this have to be done at sometime. Overall we had a fantastic two weeks away to relax.. exactly what we wanted and the hotel was more than we expected after we researched where to go before we book.

If you ever go to Cape Verde I would definitely recommend Melia Llana. The hotel is clean and the grounds are well maintained. The staff are what make this hotel they are all so lovely and friendly and always willing to help. No issues with food or drinks as there was plenty to chose from. Pool a little dated but still lovely.

After reading some of the latest reviews we are a little worried about what our stay would be like. Fortunately, our experience was very different from the reviews we had read here. Overall this is an excellent hotel, although we have to admit that there are things that need to be improved to meet what a customer is expecting in a 5* hotel. Positive aspects: - The friendliness of the staff. We were always very well attended to by all the staff, from reception to cleaning staff. The friendly Mr. Daniel (among others) is undoubtedly a differentiator for the hotel. - The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We stayed in one of the most basic rooms, which was still very spacious, and had a bathroom with shower and bathtub, minibar (which was replenished every 2 days), etc. - The food is very delicious. Compared to other hotels we have used in Africa, the food at this hotel was very varied and tasty. In addition to the buffet restaurant, 2 à la carte dinners are included at Pura Vida BBQ and Terra Nostra, dinners that did not disappoint. - The hotel has an excellent beach. The artificial beach created in front of the hotel (protected by 2 jetties) where Bikini Beach is located ensures that there are always good conditions for swimming as you are protected. This protection also ends up being sought by fish, which ends up being an excellent free snorkeling spot for both fish and turtles that appear during the afternoon to feed. Aspects to improve: - The cleaning ladies always forget something (put shampoo and/or shower gel, one of the towels, etc.). The hotel should create a checklist so that cleaning staff can check that they haven't forgotten anything before declaring the room as clean. - There are several drinks on the menu that are not available. During our entire stay several of the drinks were unavailable. This is something that is not acceptable in a 5* hotel. If they cannot guarantee the drinks, they must remove them from the menu. - The sun loungers on the beach (and the beach itself) are not cleaned every day, in fact in a week's stay this area was only cleaned curiously on the day of the weekly beach cleaning event. Every day an employee passes by with a bag of rubbish, but only collects cups, leaving ashtrays full of rubbish and rubbish on the floor. - Beach areas should be separated by hotel. There are 4 large resorts in this area and 4 lounger areas on the beach, but none of them are marked as belonging to a specific hotel, which means that everyone uses whatever loungers they want. As this is an “Adults Only” hotel, it doesn’t make sense that anyone who wants to use the sun loungers has to share with a Melia Dunas family who decided to sit in front of the Llana. - Entertainment during the day should be improved. It's normal for an “Adults Only” hotel to be calmer, but it doesn't do justice to the little entertainment there is (sometimes there are things scheduled that don't happen). You should take a look at the entertainm

Booked upon an recommendation of a friend. Arrived late at the hotel where we were greeted by Mali who sorted out our luggage and took us to our room. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the hotel. Our room was a decent size and clean but not 5 star luxurious by any means. Out stay was for a week, the first couple of days we did the 'standard' option. Food was average in the main restaurant with not a lot of choice. For our last 4 days we upgraded to VIP which was £100 per couple per day. This allowed you to use the Level pool area and bar, which was lovely. We were allocated private dining for champagne breakfast and waiter service. The standard of food here was so much better. It also allowed usage of 4 other sister hotels and their restaurants. We used the Italian in Melia Duna, the Mediterranean and Nami Asian restaurant in the Tui next door and Bikini Beach. These were all pre booked for us and no extra payments were needed. Drinks were included. The Nami is a must, beautiful food. Hotel was clean but flies were everywhere. Another big issue was mosquito's. Nearly every guest we talked to and saw had been bitten. It didn't matter where you were, outside, in the restaurants, in your room. Absolute nightmare. Cats are also around but harmless. Upon upgrading we were told that we had an allocation of 50 euros each to use at Bikini Beach on food or drink per day. What we weren't told was that Bikin Beach closed at 8pm on a Sunday and didn't open again until Wednesday. This was not great for us as our upgrade was from Saturday to Tuesday. If we had been told this, we wouldn't have upgraded. It is a lot of money which for us we weren't able to take full advantage of. We did complain but nothing came of it. Small things to note - despite being a VIP room was not cleaned every day. Mini fridge was not restocked when it was supposed to. We had to ask several times for the room to be fumigated. Nice enough hotel with very friendly staff, but absolutely not a 5 star, more like a good 3.

Nice and quiet and relaxed hotel Staff very friendly and helpful Restaurant (buffet) very good Good WiFi everywhere Bar service is very good. Would have been 5 stars but for the sunbeds. Unless you Level ‘up’ or get up at early O’Clockand reserve, you will be left with a cushion less sunbed which after a few minutes feels like some sort of ancient torture machine. Minor gripe but I was slightly annoyed by the lack of comfy cushion. I did ask a member of staff and they simply said wait 5 minutes. No idea what for.

This holiday was absolutely amazing!! From the start I have nothing negative to say about this hotel it was bliss We levelled up and had the VIP package with a beautiful room overlooking the stunning beach. Elisete had sorted out everything before we arrived with the level package even down to getting us a mattress topper on the bed. She is an asset to your hotel what a lovely young lady (hope you enjoyed your gift Elisete) Room was spotless clean and maids came every day wasn’t short on towels, coffee, water, mini fridge was stocked daily I can’t fault the maids at all they did an outstanding job! The food in my opinion was fantastic as we had levelled up we could dine in lots of different restaurants across different hotels which was great. The service was impeccable with servers whom made you feel extra special and always had a smile we never waited for drinks and they always came and topped your glass up if they saw it getting low. We did also eat in the buffet a couple of times and there was always plenty on offer and we found the food delicious and lots of variety. All the staff work extremely hard but what made it special they would talk and interact with you . We ate at bikini beach a couple of times highly recommended for the Sunday brunch! Danleson at the level bar was just brilliant at cocktails he would make them just as you wanted excellent espresso martini!! We had breakfast at the al a carte most mornings Lindinalva was great thank you!! Never once did we have a problem getting a lounger even at midday which was lovely to see not many folk saving them with towels. We loved this hotel and will most definitely be returning we loved it!!!!!

Rating: 2.5/5 My recent stay at the Emilia Llana Hotel in Cape Verde had its ups and downs. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, which set a positive tone. However, our room on the ground floor left much to be desired, as it faced a wall and rooms from the hotel opposite. We opted to upgrade to a poolside swim-up room for an additional €80 per night, which was a better option but came at a cost. After exploring the hotel, I found that the swim-up rooms seemed to be the only decent accommodations available. Our upgraded room was clean but not spotless. Housekeeping service was inconsistent—on two occasions, we returned after a full day out to find our room hadn’t been serviced. While the room included a minibar, it only had a couple of beers and soft drinks, which was disappointing. There was also no iron, which I would have expected at this level. Unfortunately, the food and restaurant experience were very poor. We tried the Italian restaurant, where both my partner and I ended up with upset stomachs the next day. The service there also fell short compared to the buffet restaurant, where the staff were more attentive. However many of the food items appeared to be recycled from previous days, which made me quite wary of trying much. I ultimately limited my diet during the stay to avoid any further issues. The pool area itself was nice and spacious, but unfortunately, the covers on the deck chair cushions were moldy. About halfway through our stay, the hotel staff started removing these moldy cushions covers, but they simply piled the inside foam up near our room, which wasn’t ideal. The all-inclusive drinks were another disappointment—overly sweet and subpar in quality. There were daily activities, but they were underwhelming. I joined a Pilates class that was, without a doubt, the worst I’ve ever attended. It consisted of no more than six basic exercises with lots of unnecessary rest time, making me question whether the instructor was qualified. Similarly, the water aerobics session was the same every day, with identical music and choreography, which quickly became repetitive. The gym was another letdown. It was incredibly basic, with just a few dumbbells and two benches shared between the Emilia Llana and the neighboring TUI Blue Hotel. For a hotel advertised as five-star, the fitness facilities were nowhere near what you’d expect. In fact, despite the hotel’s five-star rating, I’d personally rate it closer to a three-star plus, given the overall experience. In conclusion, while the staff were friendly and the pool area had potential, Emilia Llana fell short in key areas like dining, cleanliness, and facilities. For a supposed five-star hotel, I expected much more.
