Fairfield Inn & Suites Santa Fe

This is a really nice little hotel in Santa Fe out on Cerrillos Road. It's an older property, but they really do a fantastic job of keeping it up and it's very clean and beds are comfortable. There is a really nice indoor pool with a hot tub and they serve a very nice breakfast in the morning with waffles, eggs, toast, etc. You can tell they try their best to keep this property maintained, I know it's a ton of work, but it's a really nice place and we will definitely stay here again. I think their staff is wonderful and very hard-working, the maids were super friendly and all working really hard. Convenient location, too, with ample parking and easy access to downtown as well as I-25. Lots of nice restaurants in the area, too.

Fine for a night but wouldn’t want to stay longer. The positives, close to Santa Fe Airport, large, clean rooms. The negatives, check-in makes you feel like you’re bothering them by just checking in, no recognition of status, generally unwelcoming. The hotel is older and has a motel vibe. Upon check-in, I went to my room to find the AC did not work and the room was extremely hot, as in I began sweating after only five minutes it was so hot. I called the front desk to let them know, expecting they would apologize and offer a new room. Nope, the response was, try using the unit directly instead of the wall thermostat, there were no controls on the unit, just a note directing you to the thermostat on the wall, so I told the front desk this and they responded, “I’ll call maintenance to come look” and then hung up. After waiting 10 mins I finally walked to the front desk and asked for a new room. Once again, no apology or anything. A new room was given and thankfully the AC unit worked, however there was a note on the thermostat on the wall directing you to use the buttons on the unit, this unit actually had buttons. Clearly there are AC issues at this hotel. The rooms, while showing wear, were spotlessly clean, which is not easy with particularly older hotels so props to the maid staff. My advice, check the Hampton Inn down the street, much cleaner, newer and friendlier.

We were driving from Phoenix to Denver and decided to stop here for the night. We used Marriott points. The only two other options were a Courtyard up the street or a Autograph hotel near the plaza which was a lot more expensive. And for one night, we didn't need expensive. I thought of this as an unattractive, squat, two story building with zero character. Check-in was prompt. I asked the reception guy what this building had been before and he said, although it had been a while ago, he thought it had been a Hampton Inn. The lobby is tiny. Our room on the first floor was the second room as you leave the lobby so all the traffic went by our room. Not ideal. There is what appears to be nice indoor pool and there was a laundry room two doors down from us. The rooms we nicely appointed with Marriott style upgrades but even those touches were outdated. Using our Marriott points, this hotel served its purpose for the one night we were in town. If I had to do it over, I might look for another option and pay cash for better accommodations.

We had a reservation at this Marriott hotel, which had been made weeks in advance. Over 100 miles from the hotel we experienced a blown tire while driving on the interstate. Roadside assistance was delayed by 3 hours. We contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation and explain the situation as soon as it became apparent we would not be able to make it to the hotel before 6:00pm or even that night driving on a donut tire. Although I had canceled, the hotel charged my credit card. Calls to the hotel manager Rosie, Marriott customer service, and Marriott specialty services were fruitless. No one at Marriott/Bonvoy would override the local managers decision to charge us for this unavoidable cancelation. I do not recommend staying at this hotel and will seriously consider whether to stay at a Marriott hotel in the future.

This is the first of many Marriott properties I have stayed in that I am worried about my car in the parking lot. Tucked between an older shopping center and an RV park, it sits on a very busy street and traffic was horrible coming and going from the Plaza to here. The condition of the hotel is ok. The furniture is worn, plugs are loose, the mirror in my bathroom is damaged. However it is clean and the check in staff was nice. I’m only here one night and will be moving to another hotel for the rest of my stay.

Homeless people camping behind the hotel, with full access to parking lot through cut fence. Fix the fence, folks! No place for pet exercise; dogs poop on rock spaces the size of your bathtub. This is NOT a pet-friendly property as promised. Plastic bags at one place at the very front do not qualify. We were placed at the far end of the hotel, in room 130, where the party was happening right next door, which kept us awake all night long. (At a minimum, refuse to accept a room at the end of the building.) Car parked outside in the morning with University of New Mexico plates on it had vomiting occupant (vomit on pavement outside door) with hotel toilet paper roll in his hand, all visible because car door was wide open at hotel exit. Beer cans left under our vehicle around the corner. Drunk person repeatedly kicked door next to us for 20 minutes at a time at at least three different times during night. We were scared to death by the violet kicking and our dog was berserk. Complained to person at front desk this morning (Sunday 7/30) and he laughed: "Yeah, that guy finally figured out he needed to come up here for a key because the people in the room were passed out." Hello--the correct response involves "Oh my gosh I am so sorry" at a minimum. When I got home and called tonight (Sunday, 7/30 approx 6 pm) to ask for manager name to complain, different person answering phone (could tell from voice accent) also refused to respond with any kind of empathy or apology. Indeed, he said "It's not my fault and why are you even asking me for sympathy." My feeling of being flabbergasted has moved to outrage. I am being referred to a manager named Rosie who (from reading previous reviews) will not respond well. Room was average but with A/C huge swings. Even though we set thermostat to 68 degrees, room seemed hot--don't know if this is because cool air blows directly at thermostat and turns it off, or if things are malfunctioning. Water in bathroom faucet comes out in five tiny sprays: takes a long time to fill mouth for rinsing or get soap off hand. I'm all in favor of water efficiency, but this was downright annoying. We are Marriott Bonvoy members, and decent professionals. The problem with this hotel is not really its rooms, which are average, but its staff and their response, plus an unwillingness to police a larger drug and party problem. Unfortunately, the community problem here means Marriott has a problem. Go somewhere else until these folks get a new management in place that values security and client comfort. The minute management knew there was a party going on, these people should have been booted. Until they have this kind of backbone, you don't want to come here.

Hotel is convenient to a lot of nice places but the immediate area is a bit sketchy. Old trailer park on one side and a massage parlor on the other. I had just fallen asleep and the hotel fire alarm starts to chirp and doesn’t stop. No one in the hallway knows what is going on and the front desk isn’t answering the phone. I call Marriott reservations for a lack of someone better to call and it takes a long time to get through the computer phone answering system and talk to somebody real. I get my clothes on and head out into the 29* weather and see the fire truck with hoses out. The policeman says that a homeless person probably set the bush on fire trying to keep warm. A bush! In the parking lot landscape. Not one hotel employee even made contact with me during this event. No one offered hospitality. No one from the hotel said it was okay to go back inside. I think it’s strange that a hotel is evacuated and nobody from the hotel is there.

What a wonderful experience from the beginning, thanks to Rosa with her beautiful smile and kindness…to the quiet nights sleep and warm breakfast with several options following morning! Clean.Quiet.Friendly. Thank you!
