"This appears to be a new hotel only 11 minutes walk from the train station. It was probably the tallest building in town. The room was very clean as well as the facilities. We arrived at 2:00 and were hoping they would let us check in early but we could only check in, but had to wait until 3:00 to go to the room. They made others wait as well. They did have free alcohol from 6:00-9:00pm in the lobby. The breakfast was okay but not much variety. The room was nice, but probably the smallest I have stayed in while in Japan. It was a quick train ride to Ashikaga Flower Park which was nice since that was the reason we came here. The bed wasn’t soft but it wasn’t terribly hard either. Over all, a decent place to stay except for the size of the room."

"1950s American kitschy ryokan... The operators and staff are terrific - kind, polite and discreet. When we stayed, we were the only guests in the hotel and so the onsen experience was completely private and amazing. The hotel environs are a little dated but that's part of the charm - the individual rooms are fantastic and modern. Some have bends and tatami mats for sleeping. Breakfast and dinner are fantastic."

"This is my regular lodging when I go to Sano. It was raining this time so walking from the station was a bit difficult, but if it wasn't raining it's just the right distance. Breakfast is also cheap and delicious. Best of all, there is an exhibition of Sano Kenzan's works here, which is a must-see for fans of Rinpa and pottery."

"The front desk told me breakfast gets crowded, but more than 10 people (construction workers) were already lined up before the 6:30 AM opening, and it was full immediately. I wanted to leave the hotel by 7:00 AM, so I was a little bothered by the rushed 30 minutes in the morning. I wish they could open at 6:00 AM! But considering the cost-performance ratio, I guess it can't be helped."

"The room was old but clean, and I was able to relax in peace. I booked through Run of the House and was able to stay at a reasonable price, and I was surprised by how good the breakfast was. The rice and fries were delicious. The coffee brewed with spring water was especially tasty. The lobby decorations were unique, and the corridors were filled with exhibits, which was enjoyable. The pond was very mystical, and I was able to enjoy it all to myself during my morning stroll. The staff were also kind, and I had a very pleasant time. If I had to suggest one thing, it would be to improve security a bit more, such as adding a chain to the room door or closing the gap at the bottom, so that I can sleep more peacefully. Next time, I'd like to try dinner."
