Hacienda de Leal - BW Signature Collection

Made reservation. Came to area for family memorial service and the Hacienda was recommended. What a mistake!!!! We arrived to a sign that read that there was a party planned and we would expect music from 4-10. The sign should have read: stay at your own risk. The rooms face a center area where the LOUD music and party guests commenced at 2. Heard fire crackers, air horns and drunk guests. It was terrible. No warning when we made the reservation. Do not make a reservation here unless you check ahead of time for any events planned. The space truly is set up for events outdoors. Rooms are fair…we did have a safe, refrigerator and microwave. Perhaps they should just become a party venue place instead of a motel for restful stays.

Bottom line is that the staff here misled us about an event that was taking place at the hotel during our stay. The hotel said nothing about an event when we booked our stay, nor did they email us to let us know before we arrived so we could have made other arrangements. When we checked in, the front desk staff told us that there was a "small event" taking place in the courtyard and that it would be over by 10pm. What they didn't say is that from 8-10pm there would be amplified, 100+ decibel live music being played in the courtyard where all the rooms face towards. Even with our door closed it felt as if there was a concert being played outside our room, because there was. If someone were traveling here with small children it would have been a disaster. To not own up to hosting an extraordinarily loud concert until well into the evening is blatantly dishonest, completely overshadowing the rest of the experience of staying here.

Wow. Shockingly awesome hotel. This is a two-story motel-sort-of-hotel, but it's still a great place to stay. The grounds are landscaped with vineyards (real grape vines). The building is in Mexican style with a huge courtyard, fountain, long dining tables, and lights everywhere. Parking is FREE and convenient. The room is large and comfortable. The TV is modern with all the channels. On check-in, the desk clerk couldn't have been more friendly. She even walked out to show my friend and I to our room. I'd say the area is very safe, although it's a bit isolated. You'll find plenty of restaurants in Hollister, about 10 minutes by car.

This was the worst experience I had at a BW hotel. This hotel is old, unkept, rooms and showers are moldy, there was a lot of noise, construction and otherwise, malfunctioning toilet, AC not working, scary shower with broken soap dispensers, and very rude staff, indifferent to all customers requests and very dismissive if you ask for any help. The young lady at the breakfast today was acted like I was asking for the moon when I asked her for hot water. The breakfast was truly terrible. Only one jug of coffee that tasted like piss, stale bagels (could not toast them no matter how much I tried the toaster would only warm them up), instant oatmeal, kid sized juices boxes, sour milk, only one type of non fat yogurt, cardboard like eggs and sausage, everything cold and nasty. I was not expecting this kind of breakfast from "BW Signature Collection." What a joke!

The evening front desk clerk was very polite and accommodating. The large courtyard, full of olive trees strung with lights, was gorgeous. The room was clean and spacious. We loved the Illy coffee maker and capsules, and the real earthenware espresso cup and saucer was a lovely touch. The window lock and lever for the drain plug were both very sticky and difficult to manipulate. The heavy desk was poorly placed, right up against the window, so it needed to be moved each time we wanted to reach the window. The glass door of the shower stall was stylish, but unfortunately failed to prevent all the water from escaping. We expected a better breakfast from the BW Signature Collection, but at least the tea selection was excellent.

On our way to Pinnacles National Park, we stayed at this lovely Best Western Signature property on a very slow Wednesday night in November. Our king room was nicely furnished, including coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. The large courtyard is filled with olive trees, decorated with twinkling lights at night -- probably great for parties. Unfortunately, the breakfast buffet was mediocre—lukewarm fried eggs and sausage at 7 a.m., cheap breakfast pastries, no toast, and a stack of old oranges and apples. Maybe it was because the inn had so few guests but we didn’t see staff around at breakfast or for the morning check out.
