Above and beyond our expectations. We stumbled upon this gem and so glad we did. From the moment we stepped in, we were treating with the most care. Everyone we encountered was so helpful and happy to assist with anything that we needed. We felt right at home and the hotel itself is majestic. We will be staying here again next time we’re in SF.

Lovely boutique hotel offering personalized service, unique and beautiful rooms, breakfast and secure parking. Our 2- room suite was very spacious, quiet, and included a balcony for outdoor dining. The decor includes antiques with functional modern amenities. Original antique oil paintings and sculpture add authenticity to the public spaces and rooms. Much more charming experience than a large hotel chain! Amanda, the concierge during our stay, was very attentive to anything we needed and we will be back!

My husband and I stayed here overnight for a belated Valentine's celebration. We had planned on going to have fondue at a restaurant on Van Ness several blocks away and we thought that this location would be a wonderful place to stay at nearby. When we arrived, Amanda welcomed us in and helped take in our luggage and checked us in. It definitely felt like a bed and breakfast but a bit more elevated. Our room, Jardin, was not the biggest room, but definitely the most comfortable. I really liked how the water closet was separate from the shower room. It had a nice tv with a desk and water available to us. The most amazing part of this experience was the bed. The bed was THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept in my entire lifetime. If I had the choice, I would definitely come back here to sleep in that bed. Breakfast was your standard continental breakfast, but it was very nice and we very much enjoyed it. We were pretty much all to ourselves that morning, so it was great. We had to check out a bit earlier since we had another engagement, but I would have to say that it was an great place to stay at. Amanda was wonderful and was always there to help us when we had questions or needed help with the temperature in the room. I'm glad that we stumbled upon this amazing place. We look forward to staying again here soon.

As your car arrives at the Mansion on Sutter you know “You have arrived!” Each of the 10 guest rooms is elegantly and comfortable furnished. The linens, towels, and especially the robes made us feel like royalty. Downstairs public areas are so inviting that we could not resist inviting some local friends to join us for a glass of wine. Fruits, berries, cheeses, meats and pastries comprise the continental breakfast. This is truly elegant high Victorian San Francisco.

great location, lovely old building, spacious room, comfy bed and exceptionally kind & caring staff. amanda & yash went above and beyond to do everything possible to make us feel welcomed, comfortable & at home. even helping us open a window so jody could get some air, & sleep well—which she most certainly did!

My now husband and I chose to stay here for our wedding weekend, and we couldn't have chosen a more romantic and charming place. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We arrived (without warning) with several crates worth of wedding-related supplies, and their staff helped us bring it all up to our room. The rooms themselves are gorgeous and unique. Our room came with an amazing soaking tub that we enjoyed the morning of our wedding and best smelling toiletries we've ever found at a hotel. Despite the level of excitement we felt for our wedding we slept beautifully. The handsome writing desk was the perfect spot for us to write our thank you notes to our wedding vendors. Not sure why some reviews claim there isn't a breakfast? While the breakfast doesn't include hot items, the selection was great and of very high quality - fresh fruit, sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and we left happy and full. We look forward to returning for our anniversary someday!

This is a great find, and would return for sure. Great welcome at the door, and very much, at all times, what can we do for you. No attitude, just great service. Breakfast is ok, not great, but it does the trick (other than the croissant, which may have been the worst I've ever tried). Room was larger than expected, very quiet, good shower and VERY comfortable bed. Lack of USB ports was odd, and luckily I brought my own adapter to plug in. Mini fridge for water is a nice touch. Closet is a wardrobe, which was fine.

Guys listen . We originally booked a queen room and when we got to our room I thought they gave us the wrong room at first . No . They upgraded us ! We came from Phoenix to get married and booked them for our wedding night . I felt like Marilyn Monroe in a cabana . We were upgraded to the room with a deck , claw foot tub , extravagant toiletries , LIQUOR and strawberries /champagne in the room , roses scattered everywhere . I cried upon arrival . Thank you Mansion on Sutter for making the ending to our wedding stay so beautiful and special . They even brought up our breakfast the next morning ! 1000/10. We will be coming back every year on our anniversary and booking that exact room as long as the building stands . Elegance at its finest ! Never been to such a swank hotel like this in my LIFE.
