What a superb end-to-end 5 day experience at OGH Hotel, St. Peter Port. Amazing staff, everyone of them and plenty too, to look after us. Great Queen room, great breakfast and dinner choices. Afternoon tea was first class and more than plentiful. We were treated like royalty and made to feel very special, not overly fussed over but just right; a friendly, knowledgable and very professional team. Decor is sort of old colonial style and just fitting for this wonderful place, steeped in history. It's not cheap, but we found it amazing and great quality. You get what you pay for. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the harbour area and 15 minutes transfer from the airport - we used Island Coachways who were great, polite and prompt. Buy a 'Puffin' bus card (£4 for the card) and top it up with rides at £1.15 each to go anywhere for that price, though if you want to go all round the island, break the journey along the way, get a coffee or lunch, then get back on otherwise you'll incur a £10 all-round non-stop cost. Lots of lovely coastal walks easy to get to and from, on the excellent bus services. We did the walk from Rousse Tower to Pembroke Bay - an easy walk, circa 4km, with bus stops at start and finish. The Beach House cafe at Pembroke Bay did really nice soups. The Tourist Information centre staff in St. Peter Port were really helpful. Don't miss the Occupation Museum - a mere 10 minutes walk from the airport with regular bus services, just a 15-20 minute ride away. We also really enjoyed Pier 17 (had lovely Brill and mixed fish ) and La Perla (had lovely bream and scallops) restaurants.
