The Rising Sun

We're staying near beautiful St mawes on holiday and the 2 Sundays we've been here we have enjoyed the most scrumptious Sunday roasts...the meat just melts in your mouth and the vegetables are divine. Can't recommend enough.. thank-you to our servers Bridgette & Ellan Xx

Rising Sun is an absolutely amazing place to stay. It has unique charm, character, and a fantastic staff. My very spacious room had a comfy bed and fantastic bathroom. I would definitely stay again!

This is our second stay at The Rising Sun and overall it was superb. Our room was lovely with views across to the harbour, a seating area and table . A fridge full of drinks to purchase and a little bottle of milk to complement the tea and coffee . The bathroom was huge and had a huge bath and a lovely waterfall shower with Elemis shampoo, body wash and lotion. The room was lovely and warm but there was a Dyson fan heater if needed. Bed very big and very comfortable . The lounge with its roaring fire was lovely and the staff on the whole were most helpful . Unfortunately the chef we had experienced last year had left and this was noticeable in the quality of food . It was wonderful the first night but the second night we ate here was not so good and we felt rather disappointed . Consistency is the key to success in places like this, so an area for improvement . However it wouldn’t put us off coming again. Although we may not eat here every night . Overall it is a charming place to stay and we love it

We had an amazing two nights stay at The Rising Sun. Absolutely stunning room with two flat screen TVs, coffee machine etc. Bathrobes and Dryrobes in the room. Bed was very comfortable and the toiletries were very nice, big containers rather than small bottles. Food was excellent and breakfast which was included in the price was amazing with a really good choice of cooked food and plenty to self serve as well. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location to explore. We definitely plan to return soon

My first ever bad review , I Booked The Rising Sun to take my other half away for a well earned break, Sadly we got a very noisy room 10, it was very hot so we had to have the windows open, there is a industrial kitchen extraction unit directly outside the window, this thing is very loud, it did not stop while 11pm and started at 7am, When the fan stopped then we got what I think was a industrial refrigerator ,it clicked on , approximately every 25 mins,with a big click then a buzz, we had a beer delivery at around 12.30am which went on a while with banging and clattering, at the same time the room next door was making noise and running up and down the stairs and talking, We literally did not get any sleep, I was hoping to get my first lie in in months, instead I had to go sit outside at 7.30am to get some peace, The place has lovely decor , lovely food ,lovely staff, no other issues, but if you do book, please avoid room 10, We did mention this to the check out guy, he did say he could sort something out, regarding a refund, I told him I would leave it to him(I was so tired at this point I was struggling to think)as he had my credit card details, we have so had no refund. I do not like leaving a bad review but if I had known how noisy the room was I would not have booked. Regards Andy

Would happily recommend the Rising Sun. Room 3 was comfortable, the view across the harbour was lovely, the bathroom vast, the breakfast fantastic and the staff, just brilliant. Thank you for having us!
