I stayed at the Hotel Toiras September 2023 and wrote a fairly negative review (on Booking dot com) because the service was appalling mainly due to what appeared to be a lack of staff training. But this is a nice hotel in a wonderful location and so we stayed again September 2024 and I have to say that the service was vastly improved. Its expensive but if you want to stay at the most prestigious hotel on Ile de Re this is it.

Hotel de Toiras is situated in St Martin de Re It is a small beautiful hotel with an incredible view of the harbor and the town. It is so quaint and welcoming. The staff were incredible from picking you up at train station, showing you your room, breakfast service, bar service and help with reservations and directions. You felt like you were a family member. The room was extremely comfortable with beautiful decor and a great shower ! Breakfast was delicious with fresh pastries, omelettes and other choices if you wanted it. The dinner restaurant was closed during our stay but the local restaurants were incredibly fun and delicious with local oysters and fare. The hotel is an easy drive to all the other small villages on Île de Re.

We stayed three nights at Hotel de Toiras and had a wonderful time. The hotel is located at the perfect spot in the marina with great views of the harbor. The rooms were nicely furnished and very well serviced with attention to detail. The hotel breakfast was great. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife left behind something in the room and they mailed it home to the US free of charge. We would definitely go back and highly recommend it!

Just had a 2 night stay st this delightful hotel. The staff were utterly charming particularly Anais who made us feel very welcome after a long drive, we were relaxed from the start. The location is perfect for exploring the town or just sitting and watching the world go by. Highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a little bit luxury

What a tremendous hotel . First of all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful - genuinely helpful - it’s makes all the difference The BEST location , Charming decor We ate in the restaurant twice and also for breakfast - again first class - v imaginative menu

This is a gorgeous hotel in the best location in town. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking the Harbour and found the reception staff great but we felt the service, food and housekeeping were not up to scratch given the 5 star standard and nightly rate. I’m not a person who writes a review without thinking. We gave feedback 3/4 times during our stay but nothing improved. We were told that they were short of staff but really that’s no excuse when the rate remains high. Specifics: housekeeping: water replenished every day which was great ; minibar soft drinks provided free; one bath and hand towel per person provided and not refreshed at turndown service; bed linens not changed at all over 5 nights; sinks, floors and shower doors not cleaned at all; shower cap removed and not replaced despite two requests; kettle in room but no coffee or tea; WiFi never worked; room not serviced until late afternoon (4/5 pm ish). Service: very haphazard and unprofessional - sitting outside people watching is a pleasure but no staff. Had to go into bar to order and wait up to 15 mins for drinks to arrive; breakfast food decidedly underwhelming - no tomatoes for example. No natural yogurt one day. Cafe Creme ordered but black coffee arrived; truly awful omelette overcooked, rolled up on plate. No garnish. Tired fruit salad. Disappointing. With some imagination and TLC this could be a real gem but sadly not in reality yet.

Exactly this time last year I visited this hotel and I gave it a superlative review. However since then the prices have moved up substantially and it has moved beyond exclusive into realms which feel ridiculous. How expensive? Twenty euros for a shot of gin? Thirty for a desert? The room cost 50% more than last year. Yes it is a nice place beautifully done up but it is more like a delightful guest house than a five star hotel. Five star hotels are a particular box ticking thing and you need things like international TV channels and hotel safes which is really not what you are going to get here. It feels much more guest housey than five star to me. Which is perhaps a good thing? But ultimately it has befome too expensive and I am not a price sensitive person so that is saying something.

It s a 5 star hotel so what is there not to like?? Except the staff was super friendly and the rooms were extra comfortable. Barman is very good. He does a killer Pimm's!! The colour palette throughout the main floor is lovely and matches the Atlantic.

We spent 3 days in St Martin Il de Re and were extremely well looked after by Didier and the Hotel de Toiras team. Each and every member of the team were prepared to go the extra mile to ensure everything about our stay was excellent successfully exceeding our expectations.
