Thistle House Guest House

We travel all over the world and are used to staying in top quality although usually corporate styled hotels, as I was due to participate in a BDMLR course at the nearby Lochgoilhead,we decided to stay at the Thistle House Guest House, and what a find, from the minute we arrived we received an exceptional welcome, we were shown to a beautiful room with stunning views,we were then invited to the lounge for coffee ,cake and shortbread, the hosts could not do enough for us preparing early breakfasts ( delicious omletes) and we had requested packed lunches which by any standards were incredible, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cake , biscuits , crisps, and fruit ,water, all for an exceptionally reasonable price, the guest house was immaculate throughout spotlessly clean ,we felt like we were the first guest to have entered this sumptuous property, it was so well looked after, the property was fully occupied yet we felt as if we were the only guests and so enjoyed the grandeur of Thistle House , additionally the hosts were kind enough to give us details of nearby restaurants which allowed us to book in advance. finally we had an exceptionally comfortable sleep, the rooms are all en-suite with well equipped bathrooms with shower, ample parking and well signposted in both directions, definitely visit again !!!

What a lovely gem of a place. Hosts Avril and Sue are such genuine, friendly and consummate professionals when hosting. We were greeted warmly and given a personal tour of the home and rooms. Offered tea and cakes on arrival, a lovely touch. The house is 3 stories tall and a traditional building. 5 rooms are rented, the lower floor has a large double length lounge which is available to use by any guest. Games and books can be found in here. The other room downstairs is for breakfast. 4 rooms have front facing windows and the views are stunning. We staying in McPherson on the top floor and found it perfect. The room had all you could need, tea/coffee station, soaps and amenities, lovely ensuite, small chairs and table with a view to the front loch and very comfortable bedding. Milk and chilled water are available in a small fridge in the hall downstairs. Breakfast is pre ordered and time slots given, so you can choose when to enjoy your meal. We loved the locally sourced produce and preserves. Coffee on tap and warm hospitality throughout. For the price paid, the views available, and the charm of the place it's just gorgeous, don't question it, just book this place... Now.

We attended a wedding at the nearby Creggan's Inn this weekend and stayed for two nights at Thistle House. We were really pleasantly surprised by the house - it is so pretty - the bedrooms were very nicely decorated and the lounge was beautiful. The views of the loch are amazing and the whole atmosphere is very relaxing. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful, especially with our elderly relative - they were so kind and patient with him. Breakfast was excellent and all the little details - home made marmalade etc. really added to the visit. We would happily return.

I can not praise this Guest house more highly! A warm welcome by Sue and Avril upon arrival. We were shown the beautiful fire lit lounge first, which was a welcome sight after being in the car for so long. We were then taken to our room which was beautifully decorated, clean and with stunning views of Loch Fyne. A lovely cup of coffee and a biscuit and we felt at home. After an extremely comfortable night sleep we woke up to a delicious breakfast and played games in the lounge. Avril gave us directions for a hill walk which had stunning views over the loch and to Inverary. We will definitely be returning and recommending to all our friends and family.

This was our 3rd stay at Thistle Guest House & the standard of both accommodation & breakfast was as high as ever. We absolutely love staying there. Sue & Avril are excellent hosts, they go out of their way to make you welcome. This trip we stayed in the beautiful Stewart bedroom with view of garden at rear of house, we have also stayed in Campbell & Lamont previously. Each room is beautifully furnished & decorated. Guests also have use of the beautiful & relaxing downstairs lounge. Breakfast is excellently cooked with a wide range of choices offered.  The gardens at the guest house are gorgeous with great views across Loch Fyne to Inveraray & the castle there. All in all Thistle Guest House is perfection.  Thankyou Sue & Avril, we are looking forward to our next visit.
