Consort Hotel

Went on a Christmas Dinner. Parked car at front car park . Sign said guests and visitors to pay £3 for 24 hours parking , fine £100. I set up the RingGo app and was charged £3.60. Went inside and there was a screen where you had to key in car registration number. Others had not paid. A member of staff appeared and stated 'it was my fault I had paid and just had yo validate my car inside on the screen '. I replied it was not my fault as I had followed instructions stated in the car park! Also in the ladies toilets, one was out of order, all other locks were broken except one!

Great stay at good value comfortable bed and clean linen staff friendly and helpful Room spacious and new tv a plus Car park charge surprised to be very cheap at £3 and found it secure No dinner facilities yet but handy takeaway opposite Breakfast basic but fresh and hot Will be back

We arrived as a family of 7 quite late at night following a wedding nearby. One of our rooms did not have an additional bed in the room as booked and required. This was easily rectified when the receptionist was notified as she swiftly arranged a bed to be erected and made up. In our other room the toilet had quite a significant leak when it was flushed. So bad the leak reached the bedroom carpet. Staff were obviously aware as a towel had already been placed on the u bend to stem the leak - this did nothing in my opinion. Given the lateness of the hour we had no intention of moving for a leaky toilet we just refrained from unnessary flushing and put some towels down. We did notify the receptionist/housekeeper when she was making the bed in the other room though and she was apologetic. We opted to have a drink in the empty bar before settling down for the night and was served by the same lady. Unfortunately the draft beer was not at all nice - not to sure why but my husband drank less than half before he'd had enough. Turns out it was a one women show - receptionist, housekeeping and bar tending were all done by the same lady within an hour. She was very attentive and apologetic for the issues experienced. This hotel could really use some TLC - the carpets are stained infact a stain on our room floor was sticky. It is very outdated and not particularly homely or inviting. There is too much furniture in the rooms or at least not set out very well. Also, no one should have to ask for extra pillows - of the 7 of us there were exactly 7 pillows. I checked every cupboard and none were hidden away - we had to ask the lady for 4 more pillows which I found very strange. None of the TVs worked either - the room TV had no channels programmed in and the bar TV only showed channel 4. Needless to say we wouldn't return.
