While originally this wasn’t our first choice of hotel when visiting Rothenburg, it ended up being our favorite hotel during our 2 weeks in Europe! This is a great place to stay! Super easy walk into the heart of Rothenburg, and the breakfast is wonderful! Only recommendation for travelers would be to arrive early if possible to get decent parking if you are driving.

We visited Rothenberg ODT for the holiday season (must do!) and spent two nights at Gerberhaus. The guesthouse is quaint and cozy and each room is decorated differently. I loved all of the eclectic Christmas decor throughout the guesthouse. The breakfast was wonderful! The staff were very gracious and accommodating. We were traveling onward to Nuremberg via train and I reached out to the hotel in advance to ask for their advice, which was most helpful. The owner also helped arrange a cab for us to the train station on the morning of our departure. (It's very limited traffic inside the old walled city, no taxis to hail, and Uber isn't an option there. The walk to the train station is only 1 mile, but we didn't want to drag rollerboard luggage on cobblestone streets for a mile!) My only complaint was the pillows = which were much too flat for my family's tastes. I recommend booking directly through the hotel because the rates are better for you and the margin is better for them.

These are the positive and negative points based on my experience; Positive: the location was great right in the middle of the old town Negatives: the room rate was too overpriced for such a cheap quality room. There were cockroaches in the room. I was planning to stay two nights but I checked out after one night because I was worried cockroaches might enter my suitcase. The mattress was so uncomfortable. The room quality was at a zero star cheap motel.

Stumbled across this hotel a few meters below the main town so outside of the centre. The cake was excellent and it was lovely to sit outside on the rear terrace for drinks etc. very pleasant outside area to enjoy the sun! Great service. Great cake. €€

This is a quaint boutique hotel. All the rooms are different and reminded me of my grandmother’s house. We had no hot water but other than that it was adequate for a night. There was a charming courtyard that I could have spent hours. The breakfast buffet was beautiful and delicious. Very convenient location to explore the area.

What a charming hotel! The room was big, with a super comfortable four-poster bed. There was a big wardrobe that doubled as a safe because it was lockable. There’s a little cafe at the hotel that offered free buffet breakfast. They served fruits, bread, cold cuts, cereal, sweets, coffee, juice and other yummy things! There is also a cafe but it closes pretty early. Once the cafe is closed, you can’t enter the hotel via the front anymore. There is an entrance at the back for which you will need your key to access. The room key is an old fashioned key (not an access card) and there was only one key for the room. There are no elevators so if you have a lot of luggage, be ready for stairs! The hotel is a couple of minutes walk to Plonlein and the town hall square, and about a 10 minute walk to the train station. I did attempt to take a bus so the walk would e shorter but the bus driver and I couldn’t understand each other so we just walked LOL. The people who run the hotel are super helpful and friendly. The town is absolutely beautiful. It snowed the entire time we were there so it felt like living in a snow globe the entire time. Is it touristy? Yes, but there’s a reason for that! I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Gerberhaus if you visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber!

Gerber Haus is family run, in a great location in Rothenburg, has a lovely garden patio backed by easy access to the city walls with the kindest staff we’ve encountered. They serve a sumptuous breakfast. Our group gathered on the patio often and leisurely chatted in its beautiful setting. Peaceful and lovely. My husband became ill while we were there—during peak season for Rothenburg—and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were okay and fed, offered some comforting advice to keep me sane and to figure out best routes to get home—the epitome of hospitality and kindness to guests. The hotel is low key, relaxed, in a great location and reasonably priced. We’ll stay again.

We had a room overlooking the garden with a great view of the wall. It was fine if you like B&Bs. What I mean by this is that it is in an old building and doesn't have all the amenities of a modern hotel. The outlets were difficult to access. The shower was an addition to a bathtub. That was awkward to use. It had a fan but no a/c. The staff was super nice and the breakfast was good with a selection of bread, Cheese, cold meats and fruit. The location is great. It was about a 15 minute walk from the train station. It is right next to the old wall and you can see the famous Plönlein from the front door. There is a "fridge" in the biergarten where you can get a cold drink at any hour (you write down what you take).

Located on the "neck" of southern old town, Hotel Gerberhaus is a lovingly maintained guest house with all the charm you want in Rothenburg. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean, the breakfast was varied and served in a cozy dining room with tons of ambience. Our hostess was clearly concerned about the quality of our stay and no detail was overlooked. We wished we had stayed one more night to fully enjoy the city and the hospitality at Hotel Gerberhaus.
