Decameron La Marina Guayabitos, Ramada All-Inclusive Resort

Decameron La Marina-rating -1 out of 5. This is our 3rd different Decameron visit on Mexico and it will be our last. What a run down facility and this is supposed to be the good one in Guayabitos. Needs major upgrade on all areas, facility, staff and food. Facilities are worn down, half of the staff don’t seem to care ( my congratulations to the half that do care). The food is the same every day, does not matter what day they call it, Oriental, Italian, Mexican…..whatever it’s the same. Wine is the cheapest, bar tender did not know what pina colada was, beer is the best thing on the liquor menu. Obviously Wyndham is in it for the money, not reputation. We have been to 6 different hotel chains and this one ranks last by a wide margin. Spend the extra and use a different hotel chain. This is our 17th trip to Mexico and we have used condos and All Inclusive, so we have seen different locations and hotels, can’t rate Decameron low enough. I am expecting the generic answer that they are sorry I had this experience, but 3 times we have had the same experience with the Decameron brand. Never again Decameron!!! My experience will be shared with the airline also.

Beware if you run into problems! I posted this with Wyndham... We reserved your property, Decameron La Marina Guayabitos from October 20th through the 24th, 2024 with points but left a day early, on the 23rd. My husband had an accident on the stairways coming from the bar on the second floor. He fell on the wet stairs and his wrist was cut rather severely from a glass that was in his hand. Staff helped us with arranging medical care nearby. It was determined by the medic that he needed stitches. Again, the staff helped us with transportation to the nearby La Peñita where a doctor at the hospital gave my husband four stitches. When we inquired with the night manager who's responsible for paying the doctor he said we could pay it and we would be reimbursed. We thought that was generous but the next morning no one knew anything about it. First disappointment. We then asked for a copy of the accident report from an a.m. manager named Dahir. After insultingly suggesting that it was "common sense" that a floor may be slippery he conceded to promise us a copy of the Accident report for our insurance. We left the property a day earlier and on our exit we saw Dahir again. He said he didn't have an accident report (after 2 days). I suggested it's probably policy to fill out an accident report in order to protect both parties, not as an admittance of guilt. He still said he didn't have an accident report. Second disappointment. Though we met many friendly employees and the place was busy, I can't recommend your hotel to anyone. The blatant ignorance of the manager from lying about being reimbursed to especially the other one lying about completing an accident report is absolutely unacceptable! Though the amenities may be fun, you are not in an honest, competent environment. Hope you don’t run into needing assistance from the management. I suggest the hotel get their acts together or they are opening themselves to litigation.

Had reservations but the travel agent reserved the wrong days, when we got there they would not honor our original reservation, also they have at least 100 or more room but they don't provide any toiletries like wash cloths, they have one iron for the whole hotel, the food is horrible. The price is not cheap either, so for them not to adjust the days to accommodate the guest is not worth staying there. we have stayed at other decameron hotels before where the staff goes out of their way to provide what the guests need. I RECOMMEND NOT STAYING THERE.

our room was beautiful and very clean. The staff at the resort are just great! That is where my positive comments end. The food was mediocre. The non-stop boom-boom music seemed to come from everywhere on the property. Honestly, there is nowhere to sit and relax, enjoy a drink, listen to the waves and read a book. Not even in our room! No reason to have it blasting non-stop all day and into the evening! One evening the partying on the beach went into the morning hours. The security staff appeared, but then disappeared as quickly (thinking a pay off happened) .. and we got little to no sleep that night. This was not a cheap holiday .. and we expected more. I'm thinking it's my last all-inclusive... Sunwing holidays ... uh, nope.

My girlfriend and I just got back from Rincon de Guayabitos. It's a great place, lots of older Canadians and Mexicans. When I say older I mean late 60's to 80+. They come down from Canada and spend 2 - 6 months. They have little community groups and are lovely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The Mexicans who were there on vacation were just as lovely and obviously enjoyed the time with family and friends. Lots of Spanish speakers, many who are learning English, I'm learning Spanish so we were able to communicate just fine. The La Marina is in a beautiful spot on the beach, near the Decameron Los Cocos at the south end of a long lovely beach. The Decameron Isla Corral is at the opposite end of the beach but it's an easy walk if you want to check it out. They have plenty of loungers and they are comfortable. The vendors come by but are very polite and walk away once you say no gracias. Its layout is a bit odd. The pool is in the middle and doesn't get a ton of sun durning the day, it's a bit of a cement paradise, no plants or greenery anywhere. The rooms all look down on the pool or across to each other. You can easily see into the rooms opposite. Because of this we had to keep our blackout curtains closed. It would be nice to have a shear curtain to let the light in without being seen. There are 2 elevators and both worked great but there are no stairs to the pool/bar/beach/restaurant level. The lobby and check in are on the 2nd level, you have a beautiful view of the pool/balconies/ocean but you cannot get down to them without taking the elevator. My friend and I try to take the stairs when on vacation and were very surprised to find ourselves in the bowels of the hotel when we tried to get to the pool. You have to go through a workers area to get out to the pool and all the amenities. Staff was wonderful and always accommodating but it was just weird that we had to pass through a utilitarian area when we used the stairs. The rooms don't have a dresser, only a closet and one stand for luggage. So you are living out of your suitcase and one suitcase has to sit on the floor or on one of the small chairs. It was an inconvenience. Also, there was only one garbage can, it was in the bathroom and we found that we needed it in the main room. We did not use it for toilet paper, no one told us different so we didn't. All the restaurants and bars we went to asked for tp to go into the garbage. Nice TV and we found a few english stations. Lots of plug ins. AC worked great. Safe in the closet. Bed was comfortable with lots of pillows. Small balcony with two chairs, could have used a small table. They look directly across at your neighbours and down at the pool. The buffet was good, nothing too special. No bacon or sausage at breakfast and they very obviously remade food from the night before. Green beans in scrambled eggs? Really? We ate at all 3 Decameron buffets and they were all pretty much the same. We only did one Ala Carte, the Steakhouse
