We are visiting Latvia specifically for the Rimi Riga Marathon. That was the only reason we selected this particular destination. It's the night before the race and they are BLASTING music from the 11th floor (we're on the 9th) for some private event. 11pm and it's supposed to continue until at least midnight. The music and bass can be heard/felt in our room quite loudly and the only response we got was "sorry, you should have been notified". We weren't notified prior to this stay (which would have been ideal as we would've canceled and selected a different hotel). We weren't notified at check in. We also weren't notified in the days we've been here already. We traveled overseas for a race and can't get sleep the night before because they basically have a nightclub type of thing going on above us. They failed. At the latest, we should have been told at check in so that they could put us in a quieter/lower floor in anticipation of our needs. I should also note, they are well aware of this race - they have signage in the lifts and the lobby about the race course and road closures...yet somehow they neglected to mention this massive event/party that would be going on the night before this giant race to guests that could be affected. Brilliant. With that being said, the location is great. The staff is friendly enough, I suppose...except when bringing up this major issue and they clearly don't have the ability/authority to do what's needed to make it right. Big mistake booking this hotel. We could have booked elsewhere for far less, and likely would have been able to get sleep. If you want a nightclub, perhaps this place is worth it. If you want a hotel/sleep...look elsewhere.
