Aston Hotel Riga

Great location and good value.

I have recently stayed in Aston Hotel Riga and can say it was truly an exceptional experience. The hotel’s prime location makes it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers. Situated just a five-minute walk from Old Town providing a convenient access to city’s most popular attractions. Elegant brand new room with modern design. Room featured an extra comfortable big bed with a stiff mattress, a functional desk, air conditioner, sofa and large smart TV. The walk-in shower with rainshower system along with premium quality toiletries added a luxurious feel to my stay. Same time it’s affordable. Very good price quality ratio. One of the highlights of my visit was the breakfast at the rooftop restaurant. Morning buffet offered a diverse selection of dishes, food was high quality, good coffee and a glass of Prosecco is offered if you feel like it 😊 I ate breakfast at 7 o’clock on weekdays and also late at almost 11:00 on Sunday - both times food was fresh and warm. Hotel offers a small but well-equipped gym so you can maintain your workout routine during the stay. Staff was young but professional and attentive. Definitely recommend and would love to come back during summer time to enjoy breakfast on terrace with the stunning view on the city.

I had an awful experience that might help some of you decide to skip this hotel and look for better options. The fire alarm went off on Thursday night at 2 AM, and the entire hotel was evacuated. After about 10 minutes, the alarm stopped ringing, and people began returning to their rooms. No guidance was provided by the hotel staff on what to do. Only after repeatedly asking were we informed by the receptionist that it was safe to return. However, once back in our rooms, the fire alarm went off again—not once, not twice, but five times in short intervals! This made getting a good night’s sleep impossible. The hotel receptionist then started hiding from guests who wanted to know what was happening. By 3 AM, the cause of the alarm had not yet been determined, despite several guests asking questions. This certainly did not help with the peace of mind one would expect at a 4-star hotel. A night with no sleep, no explanations, and a disturbing lack of professionalism. I witnessed other guests complaining about being unable to fall asleep before 2 AM due to loud music and chatter from the hotel’s 6th-floor bar, which was booked for a private event that night. It seems that this hotel advertises the rooms as soundproof, which is a hoax. The rooms are tiny, and some have a door in the middle connecting two rooms. You can hear everything happening in the adjacent room. The management needs to seriously consider training their staff on how to respond to emergency situations. They should also make it clear that some rooms are not soundproof. This place seems to be cutting corners and saving money at the expense of guests’ safety and comfort. Don’t be deceived by the modern décor; the quality of your stay will hardly meet the expectations of a seemingly highly-rated hotel, which this place clearly isn’t. Avoid this place; there are much better options around. One star out of five.

Pros: 1. The location is excellent. 2. Staffs are friendly. 3. The bed and pillow are firm and comfortable. 4. The rooftop restaurant is good, and we enjoyed the terrace. 5. We had a room on the fourth floor and facing the courtyard. It was quite in general. Cons: 1. The room and the bathroom are tiny. 2. Not enough space for storage. 3. We have a room with a door between two rooms. Our neighbor talked loudly for hours around 3 a.m., completely ruining our sleep. I don't understand why you can't have a soundproof door. 4. Breakfast with minimal options.

Clean rooms, good breakfast and nice terrace. All in all it is a good hotell. However, our experience that we have with us after the stay was that the hotell takes a deposit (100 euros 2 rooms) that they promised to pay back on the day of the departure. 12 days after depature we still have not received the deposit back. We have contacted the hotell several times via phone and Messenger. The last messegage have not been replied to fora few days. The hotell claims the money has been transferred back to us but we still have not seen them. We would not have booked this hotell if we knew this would have happend. 100 euros is a big amount for us.
