"Non sembrava un resort a 4 stelle e per circa 300 dollari a notte mi sarei aspettato un servizio decisamente migliore, ecc. Aria condizionata rumorosa, asciugamani sottili e consumati, galli che vagavano liberi nei giardini cantando dalle 4:30 in poi, camere datate, niente wifi nemmeno nelle aree comuni, personale alla reception disinteressato e non sembrava felice, in particolare il ragazzo al tavolo separato che non voleva aiutare nessuno. Dopo che gli ho fatto una domanda, mi ha detto che non poteva aiutarmi, poi mi ha indirizzato a un altro ufficio che mi ha rimandato da lui e ancora non voleva aiutarmi e un altro membro del personale gli ha detto di aiutarmi, cosa che alla fine ha accettato di fare, ma non è riuscito ad aiutarmi con la mia domanda di base su a che ora parte la navetta per l'aeroporto la mattina, per la quale avevo prepagato il resort! Era troppo complicato per lui cercarlo. Non credo che il personale sia stato formato per un buon servizio clienti, soprattutto il personale alla reception che è la prima linea di contatto. È un peccato perché la maggior parte del personale degli altri resort e servizi è molto disponibile e felice di aiutare. Il personale del ristorante è stato più cordiale."

"Confusing place. We visited one evening for a drink - we were staying locally. Sat outside (inside was clearly for in house guests and our preference was for outside anyway). Felt a bit like Siberia as we waited an age for service. Great spot for a drink, drinks were great and the lovely waitress who eventually served us was delightful. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and bring the rest of the family back a few nights later for the NY poolside party advertised on the blackboard out front as being open to all from 8pm. I checked with reception on our way out to confirm this was OK - she said NY was for in-house guests only. When I told her about the blackboard out front she knew nothing about it but said if that’s what it said it must be right. We had a delightful dinner elsewhere and headed to nautilus at 8.15pm. Jumped on by the Maitre D who couldn’t even manage a hello - rather just a ‘you’re here too early’. Plainly he hadn’t seen the sign either? Anyway - we stayed for a drink - sat outside in Siberia again - there was no vibe and no service. In house guests appeared put out that ‘outsiders’ were walking past their table by the door to access the bar (we had to given nobody came to us). We left after that. Went down the road and had a fabulous night with brilliant service. Nautilus overall had a pretentious feel which isn’t compatible with Rarotonga and was by far the worst experience of our 10 day trip. I’ve just written 8 rave reviews on other places but not for this one. Would suggest staff training and communication about what’s going on at the place might be in order as a start!"

La TV non offre alcuna fonte di intrattenimento, perché non potevamo ottenere alcun canale, quindi portare i tuoi libri, la radio, i giochi e il torciatoio per crabbar di notte. Ma, questo resort è in un posto così buono, sarete alla spiaggia tutto il giorno. Portate un bagno bagnato... il vento ti sorprende!"

"Che bel ristorante in una bella isola! Avevamo fatto un bel tempo incredibile da questo eccellente ristorante. Le camere erano incredibili. Ben designato e mi piaceva l'alloggio di stile alto. Ha una cucina ben designata e un bellissimo bagno. Una punta... tenere chiuse le finestre di bagno alla notte, perché le griglie dell'isola amano crown in tutte le ore. Grazie a Dio le camere sono asonilizzate!! Il bar Tapas è fantastico con grande cibo. Amore amore e non posso aspettare di tornare a volte :) Il personale era grande! Elaine in particolare rispose rapidamente con qualsiasi domanda e puntò su alcune grandi tour. Grazie, un buon viaggio"

"Molto rilassato alla terra e vibrato amichevole. Abbiamo ricevuto la benvenuta dal proprietario/gestore, molte buone raccomandazioni per cena e cocktail. Ci ha anche abbassato al locale locazione auto. La nostra stanza era grande, pulita e ben progettata. Suggerisco la piscina, la spiaggia lungo la strada è bella e ci sono alcuni ristoranti di fronte alla spiaggia a piedi. I vicini hanno griglie e cani rumorosi, quindi solo in caso, assicuratevi di chiudere le voci e alcuni pendenti potrebbero essere in ordine,"

Reflections on Rarotonga
"The villa, although not new, is well-maintained and equipped with everything necessary. The owner is accommodating and responsive. We checked in on December 30th and discovered the air conditioning in one bedroom wasn't working. We called the contact number, and they arranged for it to be repaired on December 31st! Special thanks. We asked for masks and fins, and they arrived within an hour. We asked for an extra hour, and they agreed without complaining, even though the cleaners arrived on time and waited for us to vacate the villa. FYI: The villa consists of two identical two-story villas, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and everything else. These villas are not connected, but if you have a large group or family, it's easy to access each other via the beach or through the front doors. Disadvantages: The swimming pools at both villas are not on the seaside, but in the courtyard. The sliding doors to the first-floor bedroom are already outdated and in need of replacement. The front and side windows lack blackout curtains, something that has long been implemented even in hotels and villas of a much lower class, but less recent."

Te Vakaroa Villas
"We stayed in December 2023. 3 out of 5 stars. Would give 5 stars if not for the gardener and reception. The villas at Te Vakaroa are centrally located in the suburb of Muri right on the Muri beach lagoon next door to the Sailing Club and short walking distance to the Muri Night Markets and Te Vara Nui Village Spectacular which is a cultural overwater night show and traditional buffet dinner of the local people. We stayed in a one bedroom villa which was roomy and comfortable and nicely decorated. The complex is beautiful and the design is stunning and excellent. The views overlooking the pool and Muri Lagoon out to the ocean are beautiful. On arrival all the lounge cushions for all the chairs was piled high under a villa balcony, which looked a tad uninviting. This place has an excellent location with well equipped villas. HOWEVER, This place had one very big major downfall. “The gardener”. When you pay good money to go on a holiday and relax, and these villas are not cheap accommodation, the last thing you need or want is a person using a leaf blower at 7.30am in the morning. For an adults only boutique resort, to escape noisy children, no one needs this noise. There is no sleeping in at this place, even with ear plugs. On day one of our stay, I asked him why he was using a leaf blower waking people up and why he couldn’t use a broom considering the place is a small complex with only 6 luxury villas. No apology for waking you up, just the gardener advising that it is less noisy then their old blower as it is electric and not petrol and he replied “It would take all day and that I would be woken up anyway at 8am by next door using their petrol blower”. After being abruptly woken up, I then sat there having a few cups of tea and advise by 10.30am, no one else in the area was using any power tools, petrol or electric leaf blowers. Whilst sitting under the outside balcony watching the pool and lagoon having been woken up by the gardener, we noticed the gardener blow all the leaf matter and dust into the pool and then spend an hour and a half using a net to get it out. Would have been quicker to sweep it up with a rake, broom and dust pan and not dirty the pool water which he rectified by putting a bag of salt chlorine into the pool. Would have also been more environmentally sustainable using a broom for such a small area and more importantly respecting paying guests to enjoy their holiday. The next day after being woken up again, the gardener used a broom. At the 2 other resorts in the Cook Islands we stayed at, no other venue was using any power tools before 10am (ie. Checkout Time) this was probably because paying guests could sleep in on their holidays. The day after that, the gardener was back to using the leaf blower but this time at 7.50am. As for reception we found Poko to be a tad apathetic and was hardly ever there. Reception was open only for a couple hours on most of the days we were there. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. T"
Sea Change Villas
"Il nostro hotel è stato un luogo ideale per il nostro primo viaggio a Rarotonga, e il nostro hotel è stato un luogo ideale per il nostro soggiorno. Abbiamo sfruttato appieno le strutture, tra cui la nostra piscina privata, le attrezzature di snorkeling, le biciclette, i kayaks e i paddleboard. Uno dei punti di vista era snorkeling proprio davanti alla nostra villa, dove abbiamo visto due tartarughe marine da soli! La villa si trova vicino alla famosa zona di scudo della tartaruga, e il river è pieno di pesci belli e colorati. Il nostro pacchetto di luna di miele supera le nostre aspettative. Includeva un pick-up aereo, una bottiglia di vino all'arrivo, provviste di colazione immagazzinate nel nostro frigorifero e un colazione complimentare servito in un giorno della nostra scelta. Il prato di colazione era assolutamente perfetto e un modo meraviglioso per iniziare il giorno. Abbiamo anche aggiunto il viaggio di giorno Aitutaki, che era un'esperienza inoltrabile e valeva bene. Abbiamo soggiornato per 11 notti, che ci hanno dato molto tempo per esplorare ogni parte di Rarotonga mentre ancora godete di giorni rilassanti nella villa. A nostro avviso, offre un'esperienza molto più privata e pacifica di rimanere nei resort situati intorno alla principale zona della laguna."

"Wonderful Beachfront Location and Excellent Value Castaway Resort enjoys an amazing beachfront location. It was well sheltered from the strong seasonal winds we experienced elsewhere on the island, making it a peaceful and comfortable place to stay. Our accommodation was a good size, and we appreciated having a separate lounge area and small kitchenette. The television reception was fuzzy, possibly due to the aerial, but this was of little consequence to us. The sofa bed, however, was well past its useful life. The deep dip in the middle made it uncomfortable to use even as a sofa unless it was filled with pillows and cushions. The pool area is functional but looks tired and would benefit from some maintenance and updating. Wi-Fi is available only in the restaurant and other public areas, not in the rooms, which made working a little inconvenient. However, this was clearly stated in the resort’s description before booking, so it was not unexpected. The staff were amazing. Aileen, our housekeeper, and Firaz and Nather in the restaurant deserve special recognition. They were extremely personable, attentive and always willing to go the extra mile. The restaurant serves well-prepared and beautifully presented local food. Its beachfront position is a particular highlight, and enjoying cocktails there at sunset became one of the best parts of each day. Overall, Castaway Resort offers very good value for money, and we would happily recommend it. The calm beachfront setting, friendly staff and beautiful sunsets make any minor inconveniences pale into insignificance. A stay here is unlikely to disappoint."
