Nestled on the banks of the Kaveri - very close to the Sangama this is an absolute gem. We were looking for a weekend getaway and this turned out to be a godsend. Location - it's about 100 km from Bangalore. However, since the last 10 km or so is a dirt track, Google maps might be misleading. I found that I had to search for "Galibore Nature Camp Entrance " instead of "Galibore Nature Camp". We took the Kanakpura - Sangam road till we reached this check post from where we had to turn right - into the dirt road. The road was rough but driveable in March (could be different during monsoon). We didn't get Airtel signal in the forest, so it's a good Idea to get the map offline while driving inside the forest. They do have signboards placed at key locations as well. With typical Jungle Lodges thoroughness the Galibore team also called us on the day of arrival and gave clear driving directions. Accommodation - the only option are the tents (more like tent-cottages). The tent was very spacious and spotlessly clean with all basic amenities - clean sheets, towels, soap, tea and coffee maker. They had also provided and umbrella and a torch. There was an extra cot provided in case three people needed to be accommodated. The bathroom was clean and quite spacious. There is no air conditioning; a ceiling and a pedestal fan were provided. Because the tent was next to the river it never really became very hot during the day. Evening and early morning were very pleasant. Food was excellent with a variety of veg and non-veg options. They had arranged for a campfire in the evening with barbecue. We went for a coracle ride in the evening followed by a jeep ride in the jungle. Encountered a crocodile swimming in the river, herds of spotted deer, langurs and a large number of birds. If you are lucky, you could also come across elephants ( we weren't lucky, but we did see evidence of elephants moving around nearby). Early next morning we went for a nature walk ***** the river - a magical experience. The naturalists were friendly and very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. The other staff members too were friendly and super helpful. Huge thanks to the manager - Mr Prasad and his team for making our experience memorable. (We had met Mr Prasad at a couple of other Jungle Lodges properties in the past and it was nice to meet him again). Overall - a memorable experience. Would love to visit again. (Finally a humble request to the reader - if you are planning to visit - please do not litter the place. It was sad to see some plastic bottles and beer cans being carelessly chucked around on the river bank)
