Carlota Sustainable Design Hotel

After six months of researching hotels in Quito, I’m thrilled that I chose the Carlotta Hotel. The property was immaculate, and the rooms had a charming, nostalgic feel. The service was exceptional; they addressed all my questions even before booking and assisted with transportation and recommendations throughout our stay. Angélica and Miguel went above and beyond by waiting up late for our arrival. The rooms were fantastic with clean, crisp linens, and though the bathroom was small, the overall atmosphere was cozy. The high ceilings, exposed brick, and shutters added to the charm. This was one of the most delightful stays I’ve experienced, capturing a genuine Spanish ambiance in a quaint setting. After exploring other small hotels, we decided to cancel our subsequent reservations and return to the Carlotta Hotel. We stayed in both the Loft and the Camporia rooms and loved every moment. The bisto was always yummy and the service and chef was so attentive and caring! We enjoyed ceviche, steak and of course red wine both at the restaurant and rooftop bar.

Very comfortable and modern hotel in the center of old town. Friendly and helpful staff, great food, clean room and premises. Would stay again for sure. The roof bar has an epic view of Quito, and there is a nice restaurant inside with Ecuadorian food

Avoid at all cost One of the worst stays as a 20+ yeard Bonvoy member. Hotel Carlota, which was recently added to the Bonvoy portfolio, is not meeting the expected standards of cleanliness and attention to detail that are associated with the Bonvoy brand. Specifically, the hotel's cleanliness is lacking, and the front desk is not staffed after 11:00 p.m. I have attempted to contact the hotel to resolve these issues, but my efforts have been unsuccessful. In contrast, my stay at the JW in Quito the previous night was exceptional. Avoid staying at this hotel due to its unhygienic conditions, including unchanged towels and sheets, as well as the presence of used bathrobes and slippers. It is filthy and Bonvoy really needs to evaluate who they are adding to their portfolio!!

The hotel is beautifully renovated and each and every one of the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They accomodated our need to take meals on the rooftop, and pointed out exceptional points of interest and a fabulous restaurant. The inhouse chef prepares very good food too.

This hotel is top notch. The experience was wonderful. The rooms were warm and comfortable. The location was excellent. This is a quaint hotel with an excellent restaurant and staff. We HIGHLY recommend staying at the Carlota! Jim and Suzanne Jelinek

Beautifully restored boutique hotel, walking distance to the central historical district. Room was small, but lots of public spaces and great rooftop bar. Can't say enough about the warm and helpful staff who made our stay exceptional, including the great restaurant and chef in the hotel.

I highly recommend staying at the Carlota if you will be in Quito for a few days. The location is so close to many of the major sites in downtown, it is easy to walk to popular sites. We had to leave the Galapagos sooner than expected due to sickness. We weren't supposed to arrive in to Quito for a few more days. The Carlota accommodated our request to move up our dates which was a HUGE help even when they didn't have to, which was much appreciated. My family and I were greeted with the absolute best strawberry lemonades I've ever had. Unfortunately, only one man knows how to make these lemonades in the building and we couldn't get them replicated after he left... But they were amazing! The hotel was quiet, with very personalized services. We had dinner in the bistro which was lovely. I recommend doing that at least once. The staff was incredibly helpful, Even though we were trying change our flights to get home as fast as possible, they managed to make our stay in Quito very smooth and special, accommodating any request we had with grace and expediency. The room was super cool, We really enjoyed loft-style and it was perfect for our family with kids. We only had one minor inconvenience which involved a lack of hot water for a short amount of time. They sent up a special complementary treat for the delay which was no big deal and very thoughtful. The hotel is just beautiful, and the rooftop views of the city were amazing. I wish we could have stayed a few more nights.

We stayed at Carlota for 2 nights with a family of 5. The hotel is clean, quaint, historic and convenient. Kevin at the front desk was an outstanding host for our entire stay. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Both meals were outstanding. We were traveling with another family. Kevin helped arrange an hourly bus to take our families around the city. The hotel is within walking distance of the Catedral and many other historic sites. We would stay here again if we return to Quito.
