Sun Creek Lodge

Our cabana was really lovely and slept 5 of us comfortably. Breakfast was so delicious! Even my picky kids enjoyed the fresh fruit and eggs and pancakes. They were able to accomodate my Gluten Free diet, and there were cold drinks available round the clock at the Main House. Very Family Friendly, as this property is also family owned and operated! My children enjoyed being able to explore and to "help"- everyone was so nice and really genuinely treated us as welcome guests more than customers. We had some issues booking the wrong days to visit my brother in PG and Sun Creek was gracious about letting us change dates. The property is beautiful, we very much enjoyed learning more about the local flora and fauna... I saw on our last day that tours could be arranged for a fee- I would recommend taking one, just based on our talks with Thomas, I know it would be very educational and fun! I'm sorry I didn't sign us up for one. We had a little issue with our water getting turned off, and it was fixed by putting us on the well- so we didn't have to live without for very long. We had an open air outdoor bathroom (fully plumbed!) definitely a uniquely pleasureable experience to shower out of doors. I want one at home now, too! We had a little bit of an adventure trying to find our way after sunset on arrival. I recommend coming in by the light of day the first time! Luckily, everyone is friendly and helpful- so we went back to the main road and asked at the Cool Place- and a nice gentleman on a bicycle showed us to our turn off. We had mosquito netting on every bed, a small fridge and a coffee maker with coffee and filters in our room. Our porch had a hammock and couch and coffee table. The cabana was screened- which our kiddos discovered was even between the roof and the loft floor! The little adorable bats were happy to hang outside of them- which we liked as they help keep bugs under control! We saw birds, there were cows, dogs, lizards, and at least one frog eating snake- so many beautiful plants, trees, flowers! If they had had the availability we would have certainly wanted to stay longer! I even forgot some items and they saved them so I could return before we left the district! Definitely recommend!

Sun Creek Lodge provides a rustic get away in the jungles of southern Belize. Family run, the place is beautifully set. I stayed in the Parrot cabana, which was airy and nicely furnished with multiple beds, table and chairs, a fridge, and a coffee maker. Electrical outlets were limited, so a large party would need to share. Breakfast is included with the stay and was excellent. Other meals can be arranged by request. Wifi coverage in the cabana was spotty, but is good in the main lodge. Each cabana has outdoor bathrooms and showers, which are a bit different and may not appeal to some. They were more than adequate for my needs. Sun Creek is right off the Southwest Highway and easy to find with good signage. You do get highway noise until about 8:00pm. More irritating are the neighbors barking dogs and crowing roosters, but that's par for the course in Belize. There is no A/C in the lodging. The Parrot had no ceiling fan, but did have a floor fan. As I said, this is more rustic and that's the intent. The location is excellent for visiting Punta Gorda, Lubaantun, Nim Li Punit, and other local attractions. The family and staff was courteous and helpful with lots of information about local sites and activities. I had a very pleasant stay and would stay here again.

Nice rooms, love the trees, birds and clean atmosphere. I had a nice conversation with the owner, who is a humble and down to earth guy. The facilities are well kept and in proper working condition. All spaces are clean and orderly. I left feeling rejuvenated and at peace.

Sun Creek Lodge is the perfect place to escape the masses of tourists and experience the authentic Belize lifestyle surrounded by nature! The lodge is easy to reach by bus from Belize City and offers the possibility to continue South to Guatemala by ferry. Marisa and Thomas very knowledgeable about the local nature and culture and can always help you find the right activity to do (waterfalls, caves, mayan ruins, hot springs, etc.). If you come during the low season, you will have most attractions completely to yourself. The accommodation is lovely and they even have backpacker-friendly dorms! Sun Creek Lodge is the best way to experience the true Belize, its people, its nature, its places to see. The resort is a perfect blend of comfort & love for nature, the atmosphere is relaxed & easy going, the host family works in harmony to give you a perfect stay. I spent two months at the lodge and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Abenteuerurlaub erleben, unsere Devise. Die Sun Creek Lodge, ein phantastischer Ort, um die Natur pur und unverfälscht zu erleben. Wir hatten für 5 Tage die wunderschöne Parrot-Villa gebucht und uns extra für mehr Zeit für den Toledo District entschieden. Nicht für Placencia, sondern für Punta Gorda bzw San Marcos und die Sun Creek Lodge. Marisa und Thomas super nette Gastgeber. Wunderbare frisch zubereitete Speisen mit Zutaten aus dem eigenen Garten. Eis geht immer - unser Slogan und so wurden wir täglich mit leckerem Eis der Mennoniten-Gemeinschft beköstigt. Lecker. Die Lodge ist ein kleines Paradies auf Erden und sehr empfehlenswert.
