Sonoran Sea Resort

We walked into a kitchen full of water from a broken dishwasher, the dishwasher was not functional rest of the stay. We had 2 young kids so it was a huge slipping hazard and spent a lot of time taking care of the water mess. The property is an older one which is fine but the management can be improved, they need to be more customer-centric. This is the first Airbnb I have been to where they did not provide the complimentary shampoo/lotion/conditioner/body wash, a good reminder to always carry them with me from now on. The shower near the beach was not working and there was no option to wash off the sand before heading to our rooms. This was our 3rd trip to Rocky Point and we had awesome experiences in other resorts so we keep going back. But very bad experience at this resort, wont stay here again, will stick with the tried options.

Had to cancel our plans after a man was electrocuted in the hot tub. It's all over the news re this resort's negligence. His wife tried to save him and was severely injured. Multiple people tried to get him out but since there was no safety equipment nothing worked.

Well we got here the day after the man was killed in the jacuzzi by electric shock. No pool or jacuzzi for us. No offer to change hotels. However, folks who came in later had options. So skip the part where the investigation was ongoing and the people’s belongings were still at the jacuzzi, and we can talk about the staff. Not very accommodating, and if you do the vrbo they won’t help. Bad smell from laundry room - owner told us he would fix but we would have to arrange a time. Casago will only deal with you if you rent through them. Gate folks are not helpful nor do they secure. The amount of time they take to punch in some license plates is ridiculous. Electric plug in condo sparked. The plug on the patio crackled and made my surfer protector black. Condos are getting a bit worn and the property is starting to show its age. The music on the beach is not controlled. The jet ski and banana boat companies are out of control with the amount of beach they take up - where people are speeding by kids swimming. Security by pool, well they never pay attention to what is happening and just chit chat. Restaurant on property is good. Beach massages are good from some and mediocre from others. Be selective. Yolanda is great and $30. We have been coming to rocky pointe for 40 years, stayed here the last ten. Daughter stayed at property next door and was nicer. Bed was soft, I prefer firm. Second floor.

The condo complex was great. The rocks going into the water were troublesome. Beach massage was delightful. I cannot recall the unit # but the owner was Jamie Stevens. The unit was dark. Many of the light bulbs had burned out and we found no replacements. Unit surely could use some updates.

The condo we rented had a beautiful view. Owner was easy to deal with. Price was reasonable. However, it needed some significant repairs. The dishwasher racks were rusted through and many were missing. Only one light in the bathroom worked. Looked for light bulbs for living room lamp but none found. TV had spotty reception. Another guest posted later about similar issues and I agreed and She posted a rude remarks. Will go back for another 3 day get away but choose another condo.

You rented a condo via VRBO. We chose a one bedroom but there are condos that have 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms. All condos are privately owned; some rent their units like we did. The resort area was immaculate and visible, helpful security is evident. It was on the 4th floor or a 10 floor building. It has a beautiful view water of the Gulf of Cortez. Beach is nice but not superb but felt nice on the feet. The tides were dramatic and when they were out, it was about 1/4 mile out and the walk out to the water was loitered with rocks. The resort has separate pools and hot tubs for adults and children, a swim up bar. A restaurant is onsite with good food (slow service) but very reasonable cost; we were happily surprised. We were there for a Thursday and Friday. By midday Friday, the younger generation arrived for a week-end partying. Guests are to wear masks only inside the restaurant while waiting to be seated. Staff wears masks at all times.

Decided to drive to rocky point (PUERTO PEÑASCO) from Phoenix for winter vacation with family. It was an awesome trip with clean beach with awesome food. I was uncertain on my decision due to family safety due to road trip to Mexico. As a precaution bought Mexico insurance for the car. Drive was comfortable, Driving permissible speed is lower is Mexico and need to be extra careful. Switch my car to show speed on KM (kilo meter) and used cruise control to avoid any over speeding mistake. Property was good and clean with excellent view. I booked it via Airbnb. Property owner had very good handicraft collection and tried his best to keep all possible accessory to make my trip comfortable. Food was awesome. Restaurent at the property was good, unfortunately it was closed for couple of days due to Christmas. Property has 3 excellent restaurent at the walking distance from main gate. We drove to department store LEY PUERTO PEÑASCO, for daily essentials. Ley has very good fresh bakery and cooked food. Other local department store visited were Walmart and Sam’s club. Carry smaller denomination of US$, bigger store accept US$ credit card. I did not felt a need to Carry Mexican peso. Property is on the beach, you will be able to find few water sports like jet ski on the beach. Massage on the beach was excellent worth trying.

The “gatekeepers”have NO common sense. They would not let my friend come up because it was after 11pm. I went down to get her and the “gatekeepers” would not let her come with me. They actually called the police. Do NOT stay here if you have friends.
