Palais de Mahe - a CGH Earth Experience

Amazing hotel in all respects: location could not be better placed in the French Quarter and near the beach, all staff members we exceptional, quality, warmth and professionalism of service, wonderful atmosphere, amazing food - both variety and quality, rooms are just stunning, pool area beautiful and many facilities available.... everything impressive and special. I've travelled extensively around the world and have never felt more welcome, safe and comfortable. Thank you to the entire team.

Property is very neat and clean. Staff is very friendly Specially Shyam and Jagdish are very helpful. Property is located in white town and near to rock beach. Food quality of restaurant is very Good. Limited options for breakfast but after you eat thm you will say waoooo

A hotel that always makes you feel at home! A home away from home. All the staff are wonderful and make sure you are always comfortable The best place to stay in Pondicherry. Food is excellent and the cleanliness is of the highest level. Great location. Special mention to Mr Dinu and chef . The food is excellent and bar well stocked. Been coming here atleast once a year for over 10 years

We stayed briefly at the CGH Earth Palais de Mahe on the pretty city of Pondicherry. It has a heritage feel but is a reproduction and a modern building. It’s in an excellent location, just one block from the sea front with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Check in was smooth and efficient, check out was the same. There is a very small pool in the central courtyard, sadly not used by anyone during our stay as there was major building works in the property next door, so lots of noise from early until late evening. The neighbourhood in general is quite noisy so light sleepers will need to be prepared. Pondicherry seems to be the site of a lot of new building now. We ordered lunch from the café near Reception. The food was average and the service a little slow. Dinner and breakfast were available in the restaurant terrace at the top of the hotel. We had a very good fish dinner and breakfast the next morning was very good, with cereal, toast, coffee, tea, eggs, fruit and many other options made to order. Service can take a little while but is very attentive and the terrace is a very nice setting to enjoy your meals. Choices were on a blackboard in the restaurant. Authentic French pastries would be a welcome addition in this former French colony. Our room was large and comfortable, with a wardrobe, a small safe, a good-sized bathroom, decent Wi-Fi, a TV with international channels, tea and coffee making facilities and air conditioning. The doors were old with large gaps, so bugs may get in, but the hotel did provide plug in anti-mosquito aerosol. Overall, we liked our time at the Palais de Mahe, it’s strong environmental and preserving the city’s heritage and we found it a convenient base to explore the city.

My husband and I spent 2 days at this beautiful property- it is situated right in the heart of the French Quarter and just up from the beach. The room we had was huge with a private balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel is immaculate with beautiful features. We ate in the restaurant each night and thoroughly enjoyed dinner- The staff are absolutely fantastic- everyone was so helpful- as soon as we would return to the hotel we were given a cold drink. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Stay at PDM was truly relaxing. The hotel blends a heritage ambience with modern comforts. The staff went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. They were always smiling, helpful and courteous. The location of the hotel is fantastic, only a short stroll from the promenade street and walking distance from most of the nice cafes in the town. Their restaurant, where they serve the breakfast, is open air and sunny. The portions are smallish and instead of a buffet they have an ala carte menu. This is interesting and each of the 5 days we stayed there, the menu was different and stayed interesting for us throughout the day. The food was uniformly tasty and flavorful. The swimming pool in the hotel though small is very clean and well accessible from the 18 rooms in the property. The only downside is probably in certain cases there is preference on form over function- be it toiletries in the bathroom or cushions on the chairs in the room.
