We were there in Praiano in late March. Normally, it is quite warm-I am told. This time it was sunny but rather chilly at times. The season starts in April, so it was also rather quiet, many restaurants and hotels were still closed and so were some of the attractions. On the plus side we had the places mostly to ourselves, traffic was tolerable, crowds were less and it was considerably quieter. You have to decide for yourself. The apartment we booked was a small one: one large room comprising bedroom, kitchen with a dining place and a sitting room area. The adjacent bathroom was down a short corridor, three steps up, three steps down. As it was rather cold at night we used air-conditioning to keep ourselves warm. Sadly, warm air wouldn’t reach the bathroom, which consequently, was simply cold. Too bad! An electric radiator or a fan heater would be a good idea. However, I understand, at most times it is too hot rather than too cold. The kitchen had most appliances and amenities one would require during a short holiday like ours. Small fridge, washing machine, microwave, electric mini oven, kettle, crockery and cutlery. There was also a small flat screen TV, free WiFi and an enormous terrace, partly roofed, with tables, chairs for eating out- al aperto and sun beds for sunning yourself. The sea-view takes your breath away. If you really wanted, a few flights of stairs up there was another sun roof shared with two other apartments. Above grow the limoni and oranges which give the place its name. Absolutely lovely! In the season traffic can be a bit disturbing, I am sure. Normally, there are many restaurants to choose from. However, in March most were closed and we had to walk to Praiano center some 10-15 minutes away or drive/walk to a restaurant on the beach ( great view!). As for shops, nearby there are two only, both quite small. A “supermarket”, some 7 min up the cliff or another one with only the basics, next to the bus stop, where you can also buy bus tickets. In low season the buses are a better (and cheaper) option than driving to see the sights. In high season both may transpire to be useless due to heavy traffic on narrow winding costal roads. You may spend hours in a traffic jam, we heard. We parked our rented car some 5 min down the road on a spot used by the owners at a not inconsiderable sum of 15 Euro a day. On the ground floor the owners run a LizArt ceramics shop and the stuff they sell is absolutely lovely. If it is going to match your décor at home is another matter but can make a great souvenir nevertheless. As for getting about we used Google maps, which was very useful. The proprietors are very nice. The younger ones speak English; la signora, though doesn’t, was very kind to us and gave us plenty of limoni as a parting gift. Fantastic taste and fragrance, excellent with gin & tonic! You have to notify them about the estimated time of your arriva in advancel. Otherwise everything is done in and by the shop on the ground floo
