We stayed in the TUI Blue Nausicaa Beach in May 2024 for a week and had a fantastic holiday. We were fortunate to be allocated room 423 with a beautiful sea view from our balcony. Sadly, the air conditioning in this room was pretty ineffective, which could be a problem in the height of summer. We knew it was a family friendly hotel when booking and accepted that the entertainment wouldn’t be to our taste, but those with families seemed very well catered for. The grounds are beautiful, with plenty of quiet open space away from either of the pools and bars and so there is something for everyone. There is a beautiful promenade boardwalk at the front of the hotel through Figtree Bay and beyond, and steps into the stunning shallow clear sea with golden sand underfoot to rival anything found in the Caribbean. The low-rise hotel looks and feels upmarket and is pleasing to the eye in classic white and grey, holding its own amongst the other nice hotels on Protaras seafront. The food is excellent quality with different daily themes from around the world. Fantastic for meat eaters but less choice if not. The chefs, servers and waiters are all very capable, polite, and hardworking both indoors and out. There are also great coffee machines in each of the bars and restaurants. We didn’t use the snack bar at lunchtime but noticed how popular these were, particularly with young families. I would say that the overall dining experience is pleasantly functional; indoors a little canteen-like and outdoors can become congested and cramped on an evening; great for children, less so for couples. Cyprus is renowned for its many cats, thought to have been shipped over from Egypt by Saint Helena of Constantinople in AD 328. So, it was nice to see healthy looking resident cats in and around the hotel, that are a pleasure for guests to see, pet and feed and which are particularly popular with children. It’s a credit to the hotel that they tolerate them well and, we were old by the General Manager that they are currently creating a food and drinking station for them at the far end of the hotel complex. One of the downsides for us unfortunately, was the quality of the alcoholic drinks other than beer and wine, which were both fine. The spirits were local and not premium brands and it appeared no one seemed to know the price of the premium drinks on display in the lobby bar. In our opinion, it would have been good if we could have upgraded the drinks package to include premium drinks, like some other hotels and TUI cruise ships do. And while it may sound pedantic, it would be nice if the lobby bar had more subdued lighting to give a classier feel. The newly refurbished bar is really nice with fantastic views over the sea but is spoilt by stark bright lighting, we think so much more could be made of this bar with such little effort to make it more of an adult chic bar. However, in summary we had a fantastic holiday and wouldn’t hesitate returning in
