McCloud House

Clean tidy and well equipped, great communication from hosts and the bottle of wine and cookies on arrival wss a nice touch. Walking distance to jetty, beach and eateries. Location is short drive to McLaren Vale wine region which we enjoyed also.

We recently stayed at McCloud House for a week, and it was a fantastic experience. The host Deb went above and beyond with her thoughtful touches and excellent communication. The accommodation itself was incredibly comfortable and cozy, with a lovely fireplace and a charming reading nook that made relaxing a pleasure. The location was perfect—no car needed, as there were numerous restaurants, cafes, and boutiques right outside. I highly recommend this place for a delightful and convenient stay!

Quirky and comfortable, Mcloud house is run by a lovely couple who can fill you in on the history of the local area. We rented the Room with a View for 3 nights and were very happy with our choice, despite our initial trepidation. The property is very run down on parts of the outside so it's not accommodation to suit everyone. The bed was super comfortable, lounges first rate and everything we needed for breakfast for the three mornings was provided, so we certainly had no complaints! There's off-street parking and a great selection of local cafes, a pub (with great meals) an ice creamery and a few great restaurants all within walking distance. The jetty and beach are right on the doorstep and provide a good morning or evening stroll. Busy area on the weekend with a fair bit of noise but it quietened down when it needed to. Definitely recommend this place for those into low key.

We stayed 5 nights in the Room with a View overlooking the beach and Hortas restaurant pavilion. Perfect? Not quite but close. The building is a 2nd floor extension to an original and comprises the owners apartment and two self contained lets. It is brilliantly done with art deco and equipped with everything one could need including equipped kitchens. Julie and Bob, the hosts, were fabulous and eager to please. The beds are comfy, there are split systems as well as gas fan fires, and power sky lights. The nits - the Thai restaurant on the lower floor emits subtle spice aromas on the days it is open, sometimes just noticeable sometimes not noticeable at all, and the off street car park sometimes has an extra car requiring a bit of coordination to get in and out. We travelled with another couple who took the Heritage Room and we both booked for next year if that reflects our satisfaction.
