The hotel was far from what you would expect from a 5-star establishment; it’s more like a 3-star at best. The cleanliness was subpar, and the breakfast was disappointing — it didn’t seem fresh, and it felt like they reused the same food every day. Room service was indifferent to our requests. For the high price we paid, the only redeeming feature was the pool. Here are some of the issues I encountered during my stay: 1. On our first day, while having breakfast, I noticed some managers sitting in the restaurant smoking and laughing, even though it’s a non-smoking area. After their meeting, one of them casually grabbed a piece of cake with his hands — completely ignoring basic hygiene rules. 2. On the first day, I asked a cleaning staff member for directions, but instead of answering, he asked for my room number, which made me uncomfortable since I was just asking about the restaurant. 3. When we entered our room, it wasn’t clean at all. There was a lot of dust, especially on the lamp, which caused problems for our baby who is allergic to dust. 4. At check-in, while I was at the counter, the porter started grabbing my bags without asking, which felt intrusive. Overall, I can’t recommend this hotel, and I’m surprised this level of service is associated with the Helnan brand.
