We’ve just returned from a one-week family stay at this hotel, and unfortunately, it fell short of the 5-star rating it claims. At first glance, everything seemed fine. However, by day three, a number of disappointing issues became clear. The hotel advertises four à la carte restaurants, subject to availability , which is understandable. However, the app used for bookings consistently showed no availability. When I approached reception, I was told the next available booking was the day after our departure. Reception also informed me that bookings are taken three days in advance, but this information was never shared with us upon check-in, not even a suggestion to pre-book, despite our arrival at 2am with two young children. This lack of communication is simply not acceptable for a hotel claiming 5-star service. I commend Tamara, who was very helpful once I raised the issue. Thanks to her, we did secure two last-minute bookings, which we appreciated. That said, I was disheartened by the suggestion that I should perhaps contact our booking agent to express my concerns — they have no control over staff training or procedures at this property, so it felt like deflecting responsibility. The most frustrating moment came on our final day, today. We arrived at the pool at 10am, left our belongings on the loungers, and took the kids to the playground. Upon returning shortly after, we found all our personal items dumped in a pile under the lifeguard tower, directly on a dirty floor with ants, spilled drinks, and sticky residue. The lifeguard simply shrugged when questioned. While I understand the need to manage unattended beds, this was handled with complete disregard. In other hotels, items are respectfully bagged and held at reception and not thrown on the ground. It completely ruined our last morning. Other guests who witnessed it were equally shocked, especially those who had been loyal visitors for years. While the rooms were clean and comfortable, the same can't be said for the pool area. Poolside cleanliness was lacking — dirty tables, plasters, and general neglect were daily. As for the evening entertainment, the animation team lacked energy and engagement. We've had far better experiences at 4-star hotels elsewhere in Spain and the Canary Islands. Apologies for the negative tone, but this review reflects our honest experience. The high price tag simply doesn't match the service or standards. Sadly, we won’t be returning to a Zafiro hotel. ---
