Kariega Game Reserve River Lodge

Firstly, Hanna and her her team were excellent and stayed 4 nights .. 8 game drives .. Accomodation and food and choice of drinks excellent. Service Excellent .. no issues … Game Drives .. excellent. .. saw all Animals except one which eluded us .. even though we could see trackings .. Highlight .. Midnight drive from one lodge to other .. very exhilarating but petrifying too .. but our Ranger Osi, Had it in control .. Night Sky and Animals at night .. just breathtaking.. Between the Game drives .. Went on boat cruise to the beach and swim in Indian ocean .. and Osi kindly taught me to fish .. ! Something I wanted to learn !! (Didn’t catch anything but was perfect was to spend the afternoon) Had a Spa treatment .. again very good .. Last night we had a SA “Bri” .. BBQ … and had visitors .. giraffes came to see what was going on .. just lovely .. Pool warm .. and mixture of sun facing loungers to shades .. I think in the end it was the team .. led by Hannah … who had Guests in forefront .. relaxation and comfort .. that makes the River Lodge .. little things that made it for me .. small touches .. like any resort there will be improvements they can make .. but to me I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it .. they looked after me for sure .. We did this Game reserve at the river side lodge for adults and couples only.there are other lodges for families This is a must do game reserve that ticks all the boxes, the reserve it’s self is absolutely brilliant. With rustic African reed roofing plus local decor and artwork The rooms are to die for well appointed with very large bathrooms, and a massive comfortable bed. The views from the balcony in the mornings not only encompasses the landscape but also wildlife, antelope, giraffes, monkeys and lovely birds The main lodge was again well set out with a wonderful deck overlooking the river which which I managed between game drives an afternoon fishing with a very attentive bar maid who not only kept an eye on me for sun burn but that my drinks we always topped up and kept in the shade I cannot say enough about the lodge staff they were always attentive, cheerful and free with any help required a particular mention must go to the lodge manager Hanna who we got to know very well I could have talked to her about Africa and fishing all day Our drive guide was named Forrest he again was very knowledgeable and mine of information about the wild life and Africa its self. I think the idea of sharing breakfast with our guide after the early morning drive is brilliant, there we really got a chance to speak to a Forrest. He was attentive and enthusiastic about his job, which makes me jealous of what he does If you ever go the South Africa do not miss kariega game reserve it’s beautiful

Fantastic game drives with Lee saw lions elephants rhinos giraffes zebras kudu water hog and much more rescued a Baby Giraffe from the steep river bank getting him on to our boat taking to a suitable spot to let him go and reunite with his mother.
