Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend I stayed at Hotel Riu Lupita for 7 nights on the all-inclusive plan, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The hotel is clearly outdated — the rooms smelled terrible, and despite their attempt to mask it with eucalyptus, the odor never went away. The mattresses were old and extremely uncomfortable, making it hard to get a decent night’s sleep. The food was by far one of the worst parts. I actually got sick during my stay. Meals were often bland, poorly prepared, and seemed reheated — especially at the beach club, where even a basic burger was inedible. Speaking of the beach, the listing is quite misleading. The hotel is not on the beach — you need to take a 15-minute shuttle to get there, which wasn’t what I expected when booking. Drinks were no better. The alcohol used was extremely low quality, and there were no fresh ingredients in sight. Even the lime tasted artificial. The entertainment was mediocre at best, lacking energy and variety. The only positive I can mention is the staff. The people working there were incredibly sweet, kind, and hardworking. It’s unfortunate they have to work under such poor conditions — they truly deserve better. Overall, I would not return or recommend this hotel to others. There are far better options in the area for a similar price.

the food was amazing I liked the relaxed atmosphere I like that the rules were not over the top restrictive and and the staff were great especially the entertainment staff and main bartenders. The silent disco was so fun so was the foam party. The night club/disco only played Spanish music shower tiles were really nice in my room and the ac was good my bed was comfortable and the drinks were good.

Three out of five members of our party were ill from what we can only say was from the food from the beach club. Could’ve also been food from the dining room. One evening for dinner as we entered the dining hall. They were cleaning up a large pile of vomit that was left from a gas just moments before we arrived. The availability of food between meal times was scarce. You were offered only a very small variety of leftover fruit chips muffins, and two flavours of ice cream. With there only being two pools one and adult pool, which also had very loud guests at almost all times that could be overheard from our rooms, at 3 PM every day they brought out entertainment, regardless of engagement, they played extremely loud music, even if only a couple of guests were engaged, which was loud and bothersome, we ended up having to go back to our rooms during this time just for some peace and quiet. The choice of drinks was very limited the staff while they weren’t rude weren’t very friendly. For a review I was very surprised at this experience and will definitely not be going back. The rooms were averagely, clean, but two of our rooms that we had had very musty, old odors, coming from the dresser, and the ventilation fan.

The staff were really wonderful. Everyone was kind and willing to help with anything we needed. The food could be improved. It’s buffet style so there were often lukewarm items that should be kept hot or cold. Some days it was hard to find anything that looked appetizing in the main restaurant. The fresh fruit was delicious and always available for meals and snacks. The grounds were beautiful but the room was lackluster. It was not pretty or very decorated but it was clean. The TV reception wasn’t good so the picture was full of static and they weren’t smart TVs so we couldn’t screen share or use our own devices to watch movies. There is an ATM and a currency exchange at the front desk, which was very convenient. We saw wildlife: lizards, coati, sereque, deer, and lots of birds right on the grounds. The beach access was not as convenient as other RIU resorts in the area because there’s no direct path - you need to take a shuttle bus to get there and it’s about a 15 minute trip. This ended up being a minor issue because we didn’t want to spend much time at the crowded beach. This was not a calm, tranquil beach like Akumal. It was full of people and loud music and squeezed between other resort beach areas. It was difficult to walk in the surf because the beach was eroding away. One day a palm tree washed into the ocean, leaving a waist high ledge made of plastic sacks of sand to keep the rest from washing away. There was caution tape up across the whole horizon line. Check-in was considerably long by someone with not experience. Offered us rooms that they were not available and didn’t have our room by the checking time. The boy at the towel station was extremely rude and disrespectful toward to us when we tried to exchange our towels for clean us they were denied to us because the have “a rule” of only one towel per day. There were not accommodations to anything and upper management seems to have a very cocky attitude when we brought our concerns. Not friendly or willing to listen our concerns. There only good person was the bus driver which was kind and friendly everyday, but everyone else seems to be so entitled and with a little tiny mind to be able to understand they are providing a service to the people who come from far away to spend a good amount of money to be treated like they are making us a favour which maybe they need to reflect and think that places like this runs because of the tourist. If you’re looking for a place where you want to feel comfortable, welcomed and relax STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

Overall it was good, staff and dining was super. The flip point is that it’s rather far away from the oceanfront and area around the resort is not suitable for walking due to golf club property.
