I just spent the weekend literally in small town America while staying at the Rosemary House, and I enjoyed it immensely. The house is a stones-throw from the Chatham County courthouse and a number of small businesses and local breweries and restaurants. I arrived on a Friday night, and the house was all lit up on the outside and the main floor so it was very welcoming. I stayed upstairs in the Meadow room which included an ante-room before coming into a spacious bedroom and bathroom. The entire house - listed on the National Register of Historic Places - has maintained the character of its time, which I assume is about 100 years old. My bathroom included a clawfoot tub with a shower with plenty of hot water. The decor was fresh and modern, yet still provincial. My room did get pretty cold, because the temperatures were in the 30s in the mornings, however, there were plenty of quilted bedspreads in the room. The common area dining room was fantastic! The proprietor provides all types of snacks, and especially locally sourced baked goods from the Carolina Cravings company on the downtown main street. Definitely make a stop or two into the bakery there, downtown… Their cake bites are out of this world delicious! Now, back to the dining area at the Rosemary House, nothing was overlooked in this regard. The coffee bar was stocked, the refrigerator was stocked with all kinds of drinks and did I mention the fresh baked goods from Carolina Cravings Company? For those people who drink alcoholic beverages, there was wine on the table and beer in the refrigerator. Again, over the top and well appointed dining area. The wraparound porch was ideal and idyllic And the backyard area was very nice as well. I took lots of pictures, so please enjoy those. I would definitely go here again and would recommend it completely.
