We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, charming and authentic place! The owners are incredibly warm-hearted and friendly. Couldn't recommend more!

I had a great stay at Pukyo - David was so welcoming when I arrived and we enjoyed a great Indian meal together in the evening, and the breakfast was great. His wife’s tour of the Plain of Jars was also amazing, very informative and it was lovely to experience rural Laos and the unique jars and UNESCO site. A great 24 hours in this part of Laos, thanks to David and family.

Pukyo is a 5-room B&B run by David who is a very friendly and helpful host. We got a room on the ground floor which was excellent for my husband who does not walk well let alone climb stairs. It was a big family room with a king-sized double bed and 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom with a very good hot-water heater. The bathroom floor gets wet and slippery after the shower but there is an anti-slip mat and Daivd knows about the problem which he is going to fix this summer. The aircon is very powerful and there's also a wall fan as an option. There's also a small TV but we did not use it. The B&B is about 4 min from the airport and less than 10 from town. David will take you to town for dinner in his comfortable van and wait for you. He very kindly bought dinner back for us the 2nd night as my husband was too tired to go out. There's a fridge stocked with beers and drinks and a water dispenser in the living area. We had wonderful chats with David who is a great font of knowledge and felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a commercial lodging. There are mosquitoes in the evening but David sells lemongrass -scented repellent for 11,000LAK - very effective also for outdoor tours. David has a outdoor seating area at the back and it's a very peaceful and pleasant place for breakfast or a beer at sundown. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David.

I came to Phonsavan to see the Plain of Jars but the other highlight turned out to be staying two nights at the Pukyo B&B with David. I had had some dialogue with David via email about availability as the various booking sites weren't clear on the situation and David suggested that while he was fully booked for the nights I wanted he could offer a room next door (owned by his wife and aunt). When I arrived it turned out he had had a cancellation so I got offered a room in the main house instead. As I had hired a van and driver to bring me from Luang Prabang and take me back there I had transport to get around the Plain of Jars but David took me out to find an excellent dinner on both nights. It's unlikely that I would have found either place on my own even if I was staying in the centre of town. The B&B itself is fairly basic but comfortable. David said he was considering adding airconditioning if it continues to get hotter in Phonsavan but it seemed fine at night. I was exhausted both by the trip there and a day touring the plains so after dinner I pretty much collapsed anyway.

David is the most helpful host in Laos. He drove us to dinner ti a great local restaurant. He helped with great tips for travels in Laos and made enquires on our behalf. This made SUCH a difference. New is a great guide with very good English. The room was large and comfortable.

We stayed here for one night in February 2024. This is a large / posh bungalow converted to a hotel. There are only about 4 or 5 rooms. David (the owner) was a great host. He was there to receive us when we arrived and showed us around. The bungalow is very well maintained and is squeaky clean (which includes room/bathroom and the common area). The room was very comfortable and the place was quiet at night. The room had all the amenities. On the minus side, there aren't any restaurants close by. But David usually drives the guests to the city centre for dinner and we had a good Indian meal, thanks to his recommendation. Our bathroom was tiny. Other than that, this was a pleasant stay. David also arranges good tours in the local region. If all this isn't enough, David speaks excellent English, French, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish and Italian.

Best place in Phonsovan
Awesome experience, the owners are amazing people and really go out of their way to take care of you. I showed up after having a motorbike crash earlier in the day and they really went out of their way to make sure that i was taken care of. Would highly recommend anyone staying here. The house is beautiful and the rooms are nice, everything was clean amd the breakfasts were amazing.

David and Sakhone are great hosts. We felt very welcome. Our group of eight enjoyed the generous breakfast and dinner. The guided tours were tailored to our needs. The rooms are simple and comfortable. We were collected from the airport and David also dropped us off to various places as well as collecting us after a night out in town. Lovely service.
