Popped in for breakfast, opted for the continental. The menu boasted of a variety of fresh pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. In reality the orange juice came from a carton, the only pastries were 2 croissants, only 2 choices of cereal. A couple of apples and oranges were plonked in a dish and pots of fruit yoghurt were floating in cold water to keep them cool. When we asked for milk for the cereal we were given the plastic bottle (as were another couple). We asked for toast which tasted very odd. We had a tea and a coffee and a glass of orange juice each …. not much for a price of £53!!! Yes, £53. Appalling ‘food’ and service not much better. Will not be returning.

They claim to have vegan options but don't be fooled. The only vegan dish on offer was a burger ( not home made, and over cooked, dry Moving Mountains burger) which, wait for it, came without a bun it was sitting on a slimy facsimile of coleslaw and a small piece of undressed lettuce. Didn't even come with chips. This little feast came in at around £18 with chips and extra fiver. A miserley, contemptuous, fob-off.

From the time we entered the restaurant the service was poor. Some of the staff were scruffy and all were inattentive. At every stage of our meal we had to chase the staff for service and removed the charge from our bill. The quality of the food was mediocre.

This is barely a 3 star hotel. very hot and small room. Bed not comfortable. The place is tired...needs painting...very shabby inside and out

Great hotel with pub and restaurant, in a tudor building from the 1700s. The staff were excellent, super friendly and gave me a lot of information about the area, things to do. Only drawback is that due to the age of the building there was a bit of noise from other rooms

This was booked as a Christmas present from my folks. It was just lovely. Such a historic pilgrim stop heaped in history. No squeaky floor boards and was not noisy at all with guests walking around and the hotel was full due to it being half term. Gorgeous and inviting fire which the staff encouraged us to sit by as much as possible which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious and a very big bed and huge bath!! (Oak rm) and most importantly quiet yet next to the road. Great black out blind. But the best thing was I wasn’t expecting was the standard of food. It was all stunning. Which explains why lunch was so busy!! Had to wait a little to get a table. Breakfast stunning and highly recommend ‘crispy egg’ starter from the dinner menu if they have that on the menu. Staff were really helpful and friendly to. Great location with plenty to do in Petworth and the area. Petworth House is a must to visit and if you like running and walking the grounds with the deer roaming is super close.

A group of us visited for our Xmas meal, to take advantage of their Christmas offer. We were greeted by being told there was no stuffing for the turkey and almost no soup left. It went downhill from there! Our starters took 95 minutes to arrive, our mains a further age, and we didn't dare risk ordering deserts, as it was already 2 hours after we'd arrived. The prawn cocktails were swimming in watery sauce although to be fair the prawns were plentiful. The sprouts and the carrots were quite simply rock hard. Again, to be fair, were were given a £50 reduction. The waitress was friendly enough and did her best, but the manager seemed not to know about making people welcome! Would we return? Would you?

The Angel was selected for one of our evening pub runs and they did not disapoint. About 20 of us sat down in the front dining area and the food was to an excellent standard. Head chef Nick did a really great job and all the staff were wonderfull. I am sure we will return next year.

Called in to have a look and have a beer ,was told rudely that I had ``time for one`` I risked a half of Amstel and it was like Vinegar ! plus expensive and undrinkable ,so I returned to the old pub in the Marketplace and had two pints of good but inexpensive Beer and no rushing me out ,the Angel Inn needs a Manager that likes his /her Job .
