Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges

Well here’s a hidden gem. A warm welcome by Diane who showed us to our room which was modern and spacious with an amazing shower. Dinner did not disappoint, from locally sourced salmon and beef to the local beer called Torr. My wife and I both had the prawn and smoked salmon stack as well as the 10oz rib eye. All presented to perfection and cooked perfectly. Staff were superb and very attentive and friendly. The log fire in the restaurant was a great touch where we sat and relaxed after dinner. A great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed and wide awake after that fantastic shower. Breakfast was superb, Baked salmon with scrambled eggs for my wife and a simple bacon and eggs for me. Sets us up for the day ahead. Thank you so much for looking after us on our visit, oh and the wine list, brilliant.

We've stayed here a couple of times before, but it seemed much more like a 'business stay' hotel this time. We came down for dinner each evening at 7 p.m. and before we'd finished our meal the waitresses were setting the tables for the next day's breakfast! However, on a positive, the food was as excellent as on our previous stays. On our last morning I was woken at 7 a.m. by the noise of a vacuum cleaner. Not ideal. We've previously used this hotel at a 'stop off' for holidays in Scotland. This will no longer be the case. Too corporate and impersonal for us, but if your employer is paying for you on a work trip it would be fine...

Enjoyed a one night stay at Saplinbrae. The room was very homely, spacious and comfortable with a great view overlooking the surrounding countryside. The food was also lovely. Cooked to a high standards with great flavours and good portion sizes. Nice cocktail menu also. Staff all very friendly and welcoming. We would definately return for another stay. Pitfour lake is just round the back of hotel and great for a relaxing stroll.

We stayed in the Sapling Lodge as we had our 2 dogs with us. What a brilliant lodge, the attention to detail was first class, from complimentary bread, butter, jam, milk and Tunnocks cakes right there way to every cleaning product going was brilliant. The lodge has a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and a full fridge freezer, and is super cozy, in fact we turned the heating right down. The log burner will be amazing when it’s cold, and you are provided with a basket of logs to get you started, more logs can be purchased as needed. There were a number of DVD's that could be watched, and there is even a picnic bench outside to use. The walk around the lakes are great with the dogs, but be mindful that there are fishermen there, and to watch out for them casting, there are plenty of signs warning you of this. One thing to note is there is no enclosure so dogs must kept on leads, so if your pooches need to go out in the night you’ll need to keep them on a lead. Now down to the beds and pillows, they were that comfy that I’ve asked the hotel where they have got them from as they were so comfy, the bedding is lovely and the towels are large and fluffy - heaven! The bath was a welcome surprise and there is an over the bath shower. At night time because there is so little light pollution the stars are so clear and bright, it was so lovely looking up and seeing so many of them. The lodge is close to the fields where the cattle live, so be prepared for seeing a huge bull walk past as you look out. We will come back for sure. This was my second stay at the Saplinebrae and both time have been excellent. On my first visit for an overnight stay, I stayed in a lovely double room in the old Shooting lodge and on the second occasion was for 4 nights in a single room in the main hotel which I was fortunate to get as they had a late cancellation. The single room was small but adequate for myself with a large bay window and a powerful shower. The food was excellent on both occasions and the staff very friendly and helpful.

What an amazing place. From arriving and being able to park easily, everything else went wonderfully. The staff are all lovely, the dinner and breakfast were delicious. I decided to try porridge again, it was so lovely, I am now converted. The room was great, lovely bathroom and large, soft towels. Totally recommend a stay here

It's a favourite place to go out for lunch. Lovely relaxed restaurant. Daily specials, very good menu. Food is excellent. Brilliant friendly staff. Highly recommend. Love popping in for hot chocolate/ coffee & a scone / fancy piece after a walk around Pitfour Lake.

Excellent as always, very clean, food great...:) beer not bad too.... staff very friendly & welcoming to us southern folk... the weather has always been good for us when visiting, so keep that up! Always somewhere to park, without hassles, which is a + nowadays Looking forward to our next stay
