We had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful 5-star retreat in Llandysul, hosted by the charming and welcoming Richard and Katheryn. Our visit was out of season, and we stayed in one of their recently renovated two-bedroom suites. It was the perfect getaway for myself, my partner, our 4-year-old son, and even our pooch, who was made just as welcome as we were! The accommodation was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, and surrounded by stunning, well-maintained gardens. Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, ensuring a truly relaxing and comfortable stay. Breakfast was a real highlight, with an excellent variety of choices. We enjoyed the hearty Welsh breakfast on some mornings and opted for the delicious haddock with poached eggs on others – both were fantastic! Although slightly off the beaten track, the retreat’s location guarantees a peaceful and tranquil break while still being close enough to the gorgeous beaches that make this area so popular. We were so impressed with our stay that we’ve already booked the stunning cottage for our summer family holidays. Many thanks again to Richard and Katheryn for making our stay so memorable – we can’t wait to return!

Fantastic few days away in an idyllic setting. The suite was perfect, very spacious with a huge comfy bed and they had thought of everything you might need. The breakfast room was beautiful with a wide variety of breakfast options, catering for everyone’s taste. Kathryn and Richard were very welcoming and lovely to chat too. Highly recommend this luxury B&B which truly is luxury and 5*.

Beautiful setting and lovely hosts, cottage was luxury and had everything we needed and more, had a lovely breakfast in the beautiful dining area, will definitely be recommending to friends and family, thank you so much my dogs loved it too a real home from home feel

As ever a delight to stay at this lovely family retreat, 5 star all the way. Breakfasts are local produce served in an elegant conservatory. Big comfy beds and beautifully furnished accommodation. The grounds and surrounding countryside are ablaze with Autumn colours this month.

I have to say that Penbontbren is fantastic. We had a fabulous 4 days, which included the most delicious breakfast with loads of choice. Kathryn and Richard are a lovely couple who work constantly (yes, even in mid-January) to help their guests and to keep their 18 acres looking as good as possible. Our accommodation was warm and cosy, had never-ending hot water, very comfortable beds and was very clean. We had everything that we needed. I can't fault this place and hope to return very soon.

We stayed at Penbonbren for a couple of days in mid July. The owners, Kathryn and Richard were very welcoming. Our accommodation was spacious, well furnished and felt cosy. It was nice to be able to have a fridge and microwave as this provided far more flexibility compared to a standard B&B. The bed and pillows were excellent and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. There was a good variety of items available for breakfast, including vegetarian and vegan options. The patio to the rear of the suite had lovely views over the garden and we were treated to seeing lots of bats flying around at dusk. We also noticed a Spotted Flycatcher that was feeding it's brood in it's nest in the rose climbing up the wall. The gardens are extensive and whilst they are set out with some formality, the planting is quite relaxed and naturalistic - great for wildlife. Penbontbren is definitely a step up from any B&B we've stayed in before and we would recommend it for anyone wanting to explore the beautiful Ceredigion coast and countryside.

Good sized warm accommodation with lovely views over garden. Unfortunately recent storms had broken tv aerial so no television. We reported that bathroom radiator was hardly working and needed bleeding but chilly and damp in bathroom for whole of stay.

I’m so pleased I found this luxury B&B in Wales! It was my first trip to the Cardigan Bay area and it did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed my mini-break with my elderly dog. A big thanks to Kathryn and Richard who are lovely hosts, super friendly and very helpful! The breakfast was delicious with both gluten-free and dairy-free options. Thank you! The suite was clean and very comfortable with a good size gated outdoor patio. Inside was a cosy sitting area, a small kitchenette and a really comfy large bed! The grounds are gorgeous (!!) and well maintained. We took multiple strolls around it. It was a very peaceful and quiet break - exactly what was needed.

We recently enjoyed five lovely, relaxing days at Penbontbren Bed and Breakfast. Our accommodation, the garden suite, was incredibly comfortable and spacious, with ample room for ourselves and our two big dogs. A well stocked mini bar and snacks, were a lovely surprize after a long drive, and the private patio the ideal location to relax and unwind. The grounds are amazing and impeccably well kept, with native flora blending almost seamlessly into manicured lawns. Breakfast consontists of quite a variety of options, all naturally sourced from local vendors. Richard and Kathryn are the consumate hosts; and the attention to detail and comfort of the suites are well deserving of the 5 star accolade. We will definitely be returning later this year to enjoy more of Penbontbren's hospitality.
