We were very pleased with our stay at Casa Das Ilhas in the Paul valley. It is well located for walking on Santo Antao. Kate was an excellent and knowledgeable host. She helped us with transport to and from the ferry, which was invaluable. Also she organised for some friendly staff to carry our cases up the hillside, as it is a very steep fifteen minutes walk from the road. We had dinner and breakfast every day. The food was very nice and there was always plenty of coffee in the morning and beer at night! Casa Das Ilhas has a very eco-lodge, backpacker sort of vibe, which we enjoyed. There was always plenty of conversation around the dinner table, mostly about walking trails. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and cosy, with an excellent view. The shower was hot but sometimes the water pressure was down. Also the light in our room seemed to go dim at night. My only complaint was our room didn't receive much WiFi signal, but we went along to the dining room for coffee each afternoon and used the internet there. I would recommend Casa Das Ilhas if you are planning a trip to Santo Antao, particularly for walking and for the amazing mountain views.

Stayed for 3 nights to explore the Paul Valley. Katrin and her husband have created a wonderful haven with great staff , amazing food and very comfortable rooms. Guests are all interesting like- minded walkers who appreciate the outdoors

Good foods (breakfast & dinners) very friendly host Katelijne, she makes you feel at home and is very friendly in helping to arrange magnificent tours. We stayed for 5 nights and had a beautiful time at reasonable price.

Coming there is an adventure, the location is amazing, the people working there and the local community super kind and helpful! Casa das Ilhas makes a perfect setting for a beautiful experience on Santo Antaõ. We had such a fantastic help from Kateline on everything from ferry trip to hiking tours!

La propriétaire est géniale, pleine de bons conseils. Le site est splendide, mais il se mérite avec ses 15min de montée pour y arriver. Les chambres sont simples mais propres. La demie-pension est très bien et permet d'échanger avec les autres voyageurs.

Wat een fantastische plek om een deel van de verbluffende natuur van Santo Antao te ontdekken! Katelijne helpt je als de beste met het plannen van hikes, het regelen van taxi’s of aluguers, richtprijzen, tips voor lunch of dinerplekjes etc. De kamers zijn eenvoudig maar je hebt alles wat je nodig hebt. De wifi reikt niet tot in de kamer maar dat is bijzaak in zo’n prachtige natuur. Als ontbijt krijg je dagelijks versgebakken brood, toastjes, sandwiches met confituur, een banaan en een yoghurtje en afwisselend ham en kaas, een eitje, worstenbroodje, cake met hele lekkere thee of koffie. Het diner is gevarieerd, grote porties en het is gezellig om met de andere gasten samen te eten zodat je ervaringen kan delen. Het is een pittige klim er naar toe maar er kan voor dragers voor je bagage gezorgd worden. Klim zeker nog wat hoger vanaf de Casas want daar is het uitzicht echt betoverend! Het is in elk geval een plek die je niet snel zal vergeten omdat je overweldigd wordt door de prachtige en machtige schoonheid van de natuur!

Zeer mooie locatie. Prachtige vergezichten vanop ons terras. Kamer was heel basic maar zeer netjes. Bedden ok maar kraakten wel wat. Huisjes hebben misschien wel een opknapbeurt nodig. Gastvrouw Katelijne was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze gaf heel veel goeie tips. Eten was zeer ok. Personeel heel lief en vriendelijk. Zeer aangenaam verblijf dus.

Katelijne spreekt vlot 6 talen en woont al 18 jaar op Santo Antao. Wij hadden een open agenda voor 3 dagen en die heeft zij als de perfecte gids voor ons helemaal ingepland (incl vervoer) om er een onvergetelijk mooie ervaring van te maken. Santo Antao is een wondermooi eiland maar je moet wel goed ter been zijn omwille van de vele hoogteverschillen, daarom ook dat de door haar 's morgens uitgestippelde wandelroutes (via maps.me) met taxi/aluguer door haar besteld tot op het vertrekpunt ideaal zijn. Ter afwisseling regelde ze daarom op dag 2 ook n rustiger eilandtour via pickup. Ze geeft je tal van tips & tricks om dit allemaal aan de meest gunstige prijzen te kunnen boeken. De huisjes zijn fantastisch gelegen, wel met een forse klim maar daar krijg je dan een fabuleus panoramisch uitzicht als beloning voor terug. Je koffers worden trouwens voor je naar boven (en onder) gedragen vanuit de taxi / aluguer. 'S avonds en 's morgens schuif je mee aan aan de gezellige (en heel lekkere) gastentafel van waaruit ook alle trips geregeld (en met medereizigers) met haar besproken kunnen worden. Dankjewel Katelijne nog voor de heerlijke vakantie.

Prachtige plek midden in een schitterende omgeving. Rust m.u.v. de hanen die je ‘s morgens wakker maken. Eigenaresse die je oprecht helpt een keuze te maken met de vele wandelingen die je kunt maken. Mogelijkheid om een lunchpakket mee te krijgen. Heerlijk eten!
