Plan B - Living Saint-Gervais

Nice place

Travelled with Snowcoach for 13 years on skiing trip but standards drop each year and now reached rock bottom. Two chefs had already left this year and the manager was now cooking the meals which were plainly pre packaged supermarket meals for the most part. Staff used to sit at the table and serve guests but now sit on their own table and often were served first. Worst of all money was taken from the safe in our room as was other money from friends also staying at the hotel. Clearly taken by staff as small amounts taken from each note denomination so as to not be too noticeable. Local management did not show any interest and would guess this has been happening all ski season. Written to Head Office several times and 6 weeks later have had no reply from management. Avoid unless you like money being stolen and pre packaged meals with no customer service.

I stayed at the hotel at the start of Tour Mont Blanc hiking. The hotel is really basic but the room is quite comfortable. It's close to the train station and Tramway du Mont Blanc station. It's on the main road of the town so it could be noisy during the day. I only stayed here for one night so I didn't really have complaints. The staff was all courteous. They have maintained good quality of cleanliness.

Went here with my son for a weeks skiing and was very pleased. It is not in the best situation for the slopes but the hotel offers a minibus transfer to and from the gondola morning and late afternoon. There is also a free local bus if the hotel's minibus does not suit your times. The town is easy walking distance away but there is no night life - in fact the town itself was extremely quiet and there were very few places to stop for a coffee so definitely not a place for non-skiers. The hotel is typically French when it comes to the rooms, small with very little storage space. However, the service was very good, the staff always cheerful and helpful, the rooms are kept clean and tidy, the food wholesome and plentiful (although a bit anglicised for my taste) and the wine flowed freely. A good place for skiers, not so for others!

Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit dans cette hôtel. Le personnel est très serviable. Le petit déjeuner est classique mais bien fourni. Je le recommande particulièrement à ceux qui veulent emprunter le Tram du Mont Blanc, la gare est à 2 minutes à pied.

Très gros problème de bruit, car cet hôtel est situé à côté du centrale Hydroélectrique d'EDF. Le bruit est incroyable, même la rue passante qui est de l'autre côté ne peut pas rivalisé. Si vous voulez vous reposer, à éviter !
