This is the best stay I’ve ever stayed It’s a family run pension with two super friendly golden retrievers, the whole house is newly built, extremely clean, and decorated with good taste The dinner and breakfast are western- Japanese fusion, everything is homemade, definitely worth trying There is a nice and clean private onsen, or you can take a bus to have a day trip to other bigger onsen Minakami itself is a countryside area, and the pension is right next to the bus station There is literally nothing around the stay, so you need to get everything you need in Minakami station, but I think it’s a characteristic rather than disadvantage

Al nostro arrivo, ci salutiamo con i grandi membri del personale che prendono le nostre scarpe e ci forniscono le mutandine per portare durante tutto il nostro soggiorno. Il pranzo era stato servito come un grande corso composto da diversi piatti laterali e articoli principali, ma siamo stati appena scoppiati. Così siamo tornati nella stanza dopo cena per scoprire che i letti di futon, le letti di stile giapponese, erano stati creati per noi per rilassarci e dormire. Il colazione è un po' meno sofisticato, ma ancora molto più di quanto potremmo mangiare, ma per noi è impressionante in termini di sforzo necessario per farlo. We were in Hoshi Onsen 25 years ago, and we loved it so much that we decided to visit it once more during our recent Japan trip. Hoshi is one of the most traditional and older onsen in Japan, with more than one hundred years of history. Walking in its corridors or lingering in Hoshi-no-yu (the main indoor bath) you can really feel as if time had completely stopped and as you have plunged in a remote era. Yet it provides any possible comfort. Important renovations have been made, but always with great taste and respectful of tradition. Dinner is excellent and also the open air bath is really beautiful. The surroundings are also very nice and deserve a walk. It is a bit expensive, but no doubt worth the price

We had an amazing and relaxing stay! We truly loved it and had a wonderful night surrounded by serene nature. The view was absolutely beautiful — the lake is just right in front of the hotel! The place is spotless and very well maintained. But what truly made our stay special was the incredible staff. A big shoutout to Mr. Ozu, the General Manager, for going the extra mile with his thoughtfulness! When he learned that we were heading to the ropeway the next day (and that there were no bus trips on weekdays), he kindly offered us a ride. He was also genuinely concerned about our hike and overall safety — so heartwarming! Since we didn’t get the dinner package and there was only one restaurant nearby that closed at 4 p.m., we decided to get a takeout for dinner. My friend also asked if there was a nearby café to buy a cake for my birthday, but there wasn’t any. Later that evening, after we came back from the onsen, someone knocked on our door and surprised us with a complimentary cake! They said it was because we didn’t have dinner and they wanted to celebrate my birthday. Awwww! Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture! 🎂💖 In the morning, Mr. Ozu even gave us taxi numbers and the bus schedule for Yumoto Onsen, making sure our travel plans went smoothly. Truly amazing hospitality — we felt so cared for and appreciated throughout our stay! 🌿✨

La camera è molto nuova, grande, pulita e confortevole. Mi piace il bagno privato Onsen al balcone che si trova davanti al fiume, è molto rilassante. Il colazione giornaliera era buono, possiamo scegliere occidentale o giapponese impostato il giorno precedente. Menu cena era delizioso e una buona presentazione.

Nice staff. Good room. Location is a bit far from things but good for quiet environment. Driving is a must. The food, good but not as good as some other places we were in before. Recommend to try especially if in the area.

So many little things that make this hotel much better than anything else. The way they show you to your room, the way they put your shoes away and bring them back on your departure date, the way dinner and breakfast is waiting for you at your own private table, the way they let couples share an onsen during quiet hours. My point is - you will feel like a VIP here. The staff and always there, taking care of you in subtle ways, but you never feel watched or intruded on. This kind of invisible service - maybe hard for westerners to understand, but it is excellent. You will feel like you are really being understand and looked after. Highly recommend. Best hotel service I've had in japan in 2 years of living here. Highly recommended.

Our visit to this hotel was perfectly adequate. The traditional setting provided a nice sense of atmosphere, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The onsen facilities themselves were clean and relaxing, meeting our expectations for a hot spring experience. Our room was spacious, but the amenities felt a little dated and could use some refreshment. Dinner and breakfast were included, offering a standard array of Japanese cuisine that was palatable, though not exceptional. The staff were polite. Overall, it's a safe and decent choice if you're looking for a no-frills, standard onsen hotel experience.

La cena e la colazione sono auto-assistenti, quindi sono felice che i bambini possano scegliere quello che vogliono. Sono felice che tutti i vegetaristi siano facili da mangiare.Più importante, ogni pasto è delizioso, e io e la mia famiglia dico che voglio andare di nuovo. La calda e'molto comoda, i bambini sono felici. E'attraente poter fare il bagno per 24 ore. Voglio andare di nuovo.
