Le Metropolitan, Paris Tour Eiffel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Parigi|0.79km dal Avenue Foch Railway Station
I have been a loyal guest at this hotel for the past 9 years, even back when it was a Radisson property. In fact, since 2015 it is the only hotel I have ever stayed at in Paris. I have recommended friends and family to stay there, too. But sadly, after this most recent stay, I will unfortunately not be able to stay there anymore and am really sad because it was such a special place for me. I would be lying to say that every prior stay had been perfect, but the service recovery was always good and quick. Here is what transpired on my most recent stay (11/5-11/11): First, I will just make a quick comment about prices; they continue to go up and up. Depending on the room category, prices since 2015 have increased by 60-300% without any demonstrable improvement in service (in fact, I would argue that the property is in desperate need of a renovation). The views from the Eiffel View Suites are arguably some of the best in Paris, but the prices are getting to be a bit absurd for this type of property that gives its guests such inconsistent experiences. I am happy for the hotel's success among the Instagram crowd, but it has really pushed the loyal regulars away. Second, we saw many small issues with the room cleaning procedures. First of all, turndown service does not happen anymore (or at least not while we were out of the room in the evening between 6 and 10pm). We found the room to be clean and orderly, but there were always little things that caused headaches later. For example, one day while we were out they took our bathrobes while cleaning the room and did not give us new ones. We do not know why they took them to begin with, and were annoyed that we had to call and ask for new ones and wait a while for them to be delivered. Also, we noticed that they would give us new, clean mugs, but would not give us new, clean glasses. In fact, it appeared as though they were simply rinsing them in the bathroom sink and then putting them back to appear as though they were new and clean. This happened pretty much every night, and were then just in the habit of going down to the bar to get new glasses. Third, there was a big misunderstanding about our arrival amenity (a bottle of chilled Champagned). On the day of arrival, we had the do not disturb up most of the day so they were unable to deliver it. On the second day, we told the front desk that we had not received our arrival amenity and that they could deliver it any point that day as we would be out until 4 or 5pm. When we returned, there was no Champagne. When we called down to the front desk, they said there was confusion and we would need to wait until the next day when the Director could resolve it. On the third day, the front desk called to let us know there was some confusion as our travel profile indicated we preferred white wine over Champagne and that's actually why it had not yet been delivered - we confirmed nothing had been delivered and that we would happily take Champ

Brach Paris

Parigi|1.06km dal Avenue Foch Railway Station
This is a hotel in a residential area of Paris about half an hour walk from the Eiffel Tower. This is a good part of town to find grocers open late and banks with ATM's (surprisingly not so easy to find in Central Paris). I was only there one night so I didn't try to use the metro but I don't think there was a station very close to the hotel. Ubers were easy to get. The hotel ticks off the things you expect: my penthouse suite 600 was a beautifully decorated suite where everything was easy to use and worked well. There was a large terrace with a jacuzzi and a great view of the Eiffel Tower. There were some lemon financiers on arrival; i figured they might have put a few more treats out there considering what they charged for the room, but there was a bottle of perfume and some chocolates to take home at departure. You could walk down the hall to a stairway to reach the roof which had chickens and furniture and more rooftop views. There is a pool, large gym and restaurant. What more could you want? Well, actually it was the vibe and the people that made me give this place a review one cut below excellent. Not that people weren't friendly, but for a Western tourist from the USA, this is a place with a distinctly North African Arab feeling and few of the people here spoke English. You have these burly security guards around, the gym looks pretty tough and when you ask for stuff such as a piece of gym equipment, people don't understand what you are asking for. For instance, I asked two managers for a foam roller in the gym (and demonstrated what they were), and they said they didn't have any. Later I found a closet with 10 of them inside. In the restaurant, if you don't get up and ask for a person to take or bring your order, you might sit there a long while. I had to beg several times to get my breakfast before running out to the airport. The food was pretty good, by the way. The gym is open till 11 and the pool is open 24/7. There is a bathing suit spinner. The pool is an excellent heated lap pool and there are items such as flippers around. The elevators are a bit slow and that was bothersome. There are no real attractions nearby for a tourist to visit so this is not an ideal location for a tourist. I stayed here because i thought it would be cool to have a rooftop terrace for a night in Paris overlooking the Eiffel. I also liked having a hotel with a great health club. But I'd rather have more Western-looking tourists like myself around me at a hotel with staff that spoke English (aside from the receptionist and hotel operator), and I just didn't feel all that comfortable at this place. If you want to be in a place where you feel that you are in Paris and not in a tourist hotel, this hotel is great. But I”m not a local and don't really want to mix with them when I'm just passing through. It's really a matter of taste. The night before I was at the Cheval Blanc; I felt much more at ease there, but then again, it might put other people off as bein

Where do I begin? First off, the hotel looks NOTHING like the photos online. Some of the rooms like the same, but there is a wide range of photos on their site and on TripAdvisor that look nothing like the rundown hotel I walked into. The lobby area in the photo appear to be a sleek and modern room with black tile floors and a marble-like reception desk with cool lighting behind it. In reality, it was a rundown room with half of one of the walls taped up to cover a hole. Thought I was in the wrong place. Not a great smell in the hotel either. I was told I had booked a Deluxe Triple Room. Well, that doesn’t even exist but it was a way to upcharge me during a busy season. It was a tiny double room with a cot shoved in next to the double bed. Not “deluxe” in any way. The bathroom sink didn’t drain. The keys stopped working everyday and we had to go down to the desk repeatedly. The elevators were a nightmare and dirty - at one point there was what appeared to be jam or ketchup smeared all over the mirror in one of them. None of the staff were particularly friendly except for a couple of the women that usually worked mid-day. When I went to check out early in the morning (we had to catch an early flight), the employee manning the reception desk was asleep on the couch in the lobby and could barely comprehend checking us out and accidentally charged my credit card an obscene amount in error. I complained about being charged for a deluxe triple room and only getting a double and there was nothing he could do about it - he barely spoke to us. I could go on, but I’m just glad to be heading home. I will be calling the hotel later to make sure they refund me the difference for the room they actually gave me vs what I paid for. Unreal. Beware of this hotel and do not stay here - I have no idea how it has so many positive reviews.

Nel complesso comunque a me è piaciuto .

Saint James Paris

Melia Paris Champs-Elysees

My husband and I stayed at Melia for nine nights, October 2023. We received a tremendous welcome from Sally at the front desk, who gave us a tour of the main floor of the hotel and its courtyard. Sally was so friendly every time we saw her at reception throughout our stay, and she asked about our day touring around Paris. We booked a premium king room and were glad we did, the extra space was helpful for our long stay. The huge windows opened to the street which was vibrant and tree-filled. We enjoyed the fresh air each day, after seeing the sights of Paris. The blackout curtains worked very well, as did the double-pane glass - we had peaceful sleeps. The room was a bit warm, we inquired and a fan was sent to our room within a few minutes. Great service!! The bathroom was huge, more than enough space for two people. The bathroom floor did get quite wet after each shower, so be careful to mop it up afterwards. I would stay at this hotel again, so well situated and close to the Victor Hugo Metro Station. Love the older elevator in the hotel, it was charming and fun to use daily. Oh - you must eat at Lucia Pizza and Pasta which is nearby - best meal I ate in Paris! Thank you to all the staff at the Melia who made our stay very memorable.
