This lovely new well-located hotel is ideal for hikers and those who want to enjoy the outdoors in the Poconos. Hubby and I stayed in the Maple Room, which is decorated beautifully, including amenities such as a little sound machine bedside (think the pitter patter of raindrops, etc), good size TV with all channels, kitchenette with most items you'd need for meals inside or outdoors, even plates with rims to prevent food spills; if you have the need, bring your own cutting board and kitchen shears, but everything else is there. We enjoyed making a campfire out back with logs provided. Items the room doesn't have include a closet -- but plenty of hooks provide hanging space -- no mirror outside the bathroom, and, Hubby gets claustrophobic in small spaces -- which didn't bother me -- but be aware the space is very small. When arriving at a hotel room, we thoroughly check it out. This room was clean as a whistle except for crumbs/dirt beneath the couch cushions. Shower alert: We lacked the skill to manipulate the shower head sufficiently to prevent water from hitting the bathroom floor outside the shower, so the floor did get wet, but plenty of towels are provided to absorb the spillage. RexHotel owners were very responsive when we texted them. Verdict: I loved this cozy well appointed room, and would go back in a minute, but claustrophobic Hubby had a need for more space. In fact, Rex Hotel does have bigger rooms (at higher cost) which is something to consider in the future. My best wishes for the success of Rex Hotel!!
