Hotel Rosalia

We visited Padron while on Camino Portuguese for one night as we approached Santiago de Compostela. The hotel is on the edge of town and further along the Camino than most hotels catering to pilgrims. Checkin was easy, our bags waiting for us, and our room adequate and spacious. We appreciated the fan in the room as there appeared to be no hvac controls. The room we had offered large windows giving us good light. The hotel sits directly on the train line but train service didn’t seem to conflict with our stay. The hotel does have a small dining room and bar. Our plan did not include a dinner package but we were still able to get a table. The front desk manager seemed put off when we asked for a table. Walking back to town to find dinner was not something we wanted to do and we were able to get a table after some convincing. Food was good. In the morning, breakfast was served next door in a larger dining space and the meals are preset, making breakfast very efficient. Getting back to the Camino was not a problem as the road on the other side of the train tracks intersects with the Camino about just to the North. In all, the hotel is good other than being on the far side of town making the last stretch and the daily segment longer than expected.

This hotel was nice. Just a 1km walk outside of Padron. Like a lot of hotels on the camino the kitchen closes between 3.30pm and 7.45pm which is disappointing after a long walk. The room was spacious and our bathroom was very spacious. No noise at all at night even though we were looking out onto the railway track. Breakfast was ok but no gf options for my husband which is the norm in most places.

Our one night stay here was booked via Santiago Ways as part of our Camino travel. The hotel is not on the Camino trail, difficult to find, and is a fairly long walk back into central Padron. Our room was large but not the cleanest, and the shower head in the bathtub is situated in such a way to leak water onto the floor at both ends of the tub. The room is not air conditioned which might be a problem during the summer. Thankfully the trains do not appear to run during the night, so you can open the window for fresh air. The hotel desk, bar, and restaurant areas are remodeled and welcoming. Our breakfast and dinner meals provided at the attached restaurant were good.

This hotel doesn’t look like much on the photos but it was much better than we had anticipated. I think the rooms might have been renovated recently and they were a lot more comfortable than we thought they would be. Stayed here for one night whilst hiking the Camino and it was perfectly comfortable. The hotel is right next to the train station however you honestly don’t notice the trains at all. I don’t know if we got luckily but there weren’t many trains. The shower was very odd, it’s above the bath which is fine but placed right in the centre facing outward so water just goes everywhere. Unfortunately the food was the worst part of this hotel and the worst we had experienced on the Camino. It’s a bit of a walk into town and after a full day hiking in the rain we were so relieved when the hotel said they provided food, however… initially we were told we could eat in the newly renovated bar which was nice and warm but then we were moved to the restaurant next door. This was fine except the restaurant is quite run down and absolutely freezing! We ate dinner in our jackets and coats it was that cold. There wasn’t much choice of food, you could pick a starter, main and dessert but a drink wasn’t included and drinks had to be collected from the bar. Between 4 of us we’d ordered chicken, beef and cod. There seemed to be a lot of complaints from other guests about the chicken as were weren’t sure it actually was chicken. The food on the whole was flavourless, the cod wasn’t cooked properly and was served with three tiny, very watery potatoes. The breakfast was also the worst we’d had and the drinks were the most expensive we had on our Camino. Definitely wouldn’t return or would go out to eat if I did.

This is not a good location to stay in for the convenience of enjoying the town. It’s remote. No air conditioning. Some of the staff seems put out with travelers questions. As the final stop on the Camino, it could have better accommodated the peregrinos’ needs. Best to stay closer to town.

This hotel is directly across from the train station, however the trains don't run at night so there is no noise problem. No air conditioning so you have to keep the windows open. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It's about .75 miles (1/2 km) from the Camino.
