I could not select the date back to when we had a very unpleasant experience with this business. In 2013, we had a little bit difficulty coming to Oxford to check in in the hotel and we were aware at that time of cancelation we would need to pay the full GBP90. So we called owner, Julia, and explained our situation and told her that if she could let the room to someone else in a cheaper price and we are happy to cancel, but we would like to reduce the amount of the cancelation fee, and the amount would be half of the price she let out our room, so we could lose less and she could earn more. But If she could not get anybody in, we would still come to check in but would be a bit late. She happily agreed and just a few hours later she called us and told us she had let the room out to somebody else and told us not to come but insisted on charging the full amount of the cancellation fee. Then we argued that we didnt say we would cancel if the room could not be let out and the terms of our cancellation is only based on she could let the room out and reduce our cancellation fee. And suddenly, she started to talk in Chinese to us and told us this was Britain there was no way we would get any of our money back, blablabla... Anyway, on that day we stayed somewhere else and when we went back to China, we complaited this to *********** and explained what the situation was. And Julia, the owner, was even telling lies when contacted by ***********, she insisted that she let the room out after we told her we would not come. Anyway, the customer service could see the price she let out our room for GBP56 and chose to believe our honest version and force Julia to refund us GBP30. What a shame for her.
