Hotel in zona Blackbird Leys Library, Oxford

Hotel situato in buona posizione, il palazzo si presenta bene all’esterno mostrando un carattere storico. Gli spazi comuni all’interno (hall, scale, ascensore, corridoi) sono poco illuminati, con arredamento troppo scuro, pesante e vetusto (non antico!). La stanza era piccola e certamente non all’altezza degli standard di un 5 stelle: moquette macchiata, muri sporchi e rovinati, lenzuola e copriletto non stirati, gli infissi in legno delle finestre erano scrostati e rovinati, il bagno troppo piccolo sebbene pulito e funzionale. Perfino la porta di ingresso alla stanza era storta, così come il pavimento e la porta dell’armadio. La vista della camera affacciava su un cortile interno maltenuto. A ciò si aggiunge la mancanza di cura dei dettagli, altro requisito essenziale di un hotel a 5 stelle. Unica caratteristica in linea con un hotel 5 stelle è il prezzo. In definitiva, questo non è per niente un hotel 5 stelle, chi cerca tale tipologia di hotel deve dirigersi altrove; questo hotel può andare bene a chi cerca un hotel 3 stelle, spartano e senza pretese ma con un prezzo assai elevato per ciò che offre. Voto: 3/10

The location is good and easy to find. The bed is so comfy.The lightings were great. Would consider staying here again.

Questo Oxford Express Hotel è simile al Motel 168 e all'Home Inn di Shanghai. Le camere sono compatte, piccole e raffinate per quanto riguarda gli standard. È comunque ottimo per viaggi d'affari. È sicuro, pulito e ordinato. È a 40 minuti a piedi da Oxford City. Se non vuoi andare, c'è una fermata dell'autobus di fronte all'hotel per 2 sterline. Il prezzo di partenza è una corsa in taxi dalla stazione ferroviaria e dalla stazione degli autobus. Ci sono molti centri commerciali e hotel tra cui scegliere. L'unica cosa è che i prezzi sono un po' come le montagne russe. Il prezzo è di una camera al giorno, da 680 yuan a notte a 295 yuan solo un giorno in mezzo!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at The George. Lovely dinner - good range on the menu including lots of alcohol free drink options. The bed was really comfortable and it was a lovely cozy room with great amenities. Lovely location - Dorchester is beautiful! We loved the community farm just up the road with a lovely cafe and alpacas among others. Lovely countryside surrounding Dorchester and lovely cycle route to Oxford on the NCR5. Thanks George Hotel for a lovely stay!

Hotel staff polite and courteous. Rooms clean and spacious, lovely fresh smell as we went into room. Location perfect, nice walk to Oxford City Centre or plenty of opportunity to take a bus from nearby stop. Breakfast delicious with plenty of variety to cater for everyone. Meals in restaurant absolutely delicious. I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this hotel. This was our second stay

Nice hotel. Staff are cordial but the amenities need to be reviewed and made up to date. No landline to ring the reception for any service needed, had to go all the way downstairs to the reception to make a complaint on a toilet that’s refused to flush. Shower not working, couldn’t flush the toilet until I applied much pressure on the flush handle. Would’ve been great if the amenities are up to date (for the lack of a better word).

We stayed for two evenings in May to visit Blenheim palace. We had two rooms, both superior, one on the first floor of the pub and one leading out to the front. Both rooms were beautiful; the one outside had very low ceilings and beams (ok for us as we’re not tall), with a big clawfoot bath and a walk in wardrobe. It also had the most stunning fireplace that backs on to the one in the pub. The other room had a huge 6ft bed and a very big walk in shower. Both were incredibly comfortable and we slept well both nights. We ate at the pub both evenings; the first night a young chap was managing the restaurant, he and the team did a phenomenal job. The service and the food was superb. He second evening we shared the steak (we had two between the four of us) and it was amazing. Again the food and service was fabulous. On the Saturday we were the only ones eating breakfast, the service was prompt and the food delicious. However the breakfast on the Sunday was an absolute disaster; the chap who seated us (I didn’t catch his name but he had an overseas accent) took our order and then we waited…. We waited and waited as he seated others, took their orders and their breakfasts came while we waited. The room wasn’t full, there were about 5 other tables seated (and he walked past us several times and looked at the table). When we asked him, he blamed the kitchen then went to find out what had happened. He came back and apologised and said it would be with us shortly (to be clear, two of us were only having toast!) only for us to have to chase again. An hour had gone by and we still had no breakfast (every other table had come and gone by then. After chasing a second time, he brought out one cooked breakfast (with the wrong eggs) and an omelette (the other order was for poached eggs on toast), oh and then the toast! We explained this was wrong so he blamed the kitchen again and then said he’d get them to make poached eggs but we said we’d rather not have rushed poached eggs (and to be honest it had been over an hour, we had to get off). There was an almighty row going on between him and the kitchen (I imagine the order simply hadn’t made it and then he’d guessed). We were gutted, it had been such a lovely stay with two fabulous meals and great service and it ended like that. We were told that a guest had a flat battery and they were trying to help out with that, but to me there’s no excitement for that level of service in a breakfast room where only 5 tables have taken breakfast. When I checked out he apologised it did not make eye contact. I really wanted to be writing a positive review and like I said the majority of the stay was super, to the point we’d discussed returning g. However that wouldn’t happen now, which is a shame.

This is 2nd time we stayed in this trip. The aircond noise non stop and we feed back the 1st time when we were there. But I guess they can’t do anything … if you are light sleeper. Stay away 😀😪

Prenotato per due notti mentre visita Oxford, Woodstock e Blenheim Palace. L'alloggio e la posizione hanno perfettamente adattato la fattura, ma da Oxford abbiamo avuto buone strade per tutte le nostre destinazioni e il parco e i passeggeri sono stati vantaggiosi. Alloggio come previsto - buono standard. Mangiato lì una sera - cibo buono e ben presentato. Tutto il personale che abbiamo incontrato era: piacevole, amichevole e utile. Raccomandato - ripreso.
