Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa

We needed a place to sleep at 11pm driving through Illinois. I looked at reviews for Holiday Inn Express and took a chance. The room was clean and comfy. No noise during the night. Breakfast had a lot of options and the lady serving was so kind and friendly. She deserves a raise! The people at the front desk were very nice as well. I’d highly recommend staying here!

This hotel was sub par it did not have Wifi during half my stay , the staff of this hotel was rude, the breakfast sub par , there was no hot tub , the room seemed smaller than advertised and I would recommend that no one stay at the holiday inn of Ottawa, Illinois 61350, United States .

love staying usually at Staybridge but we needed a place in Ottawa so we booked with IHG. We arrived, got our room key and left without going to our room to get dinner. Upon our return we went up and I needed to use the restroom. I went into the bathroom and there was toilet paper in the bowl, it looked used and when I tried to flush it (those power flush toilets) the handle was down and it wouldn't flush or move. I tried to call the front desk and immediately got put on hold. Waited several minutes and hung up. Called back and he tried to put me on hold again but I stated the issue and that I'd been on hold once. He stated he'd get housekeeping to come take a look. I had to go down to use the lobby restroom at this point so I ran into a maintenance person/housekeeping? In the elevator who was a very nice man so I asked him if he was going to our room for the toilet issue and he said he hadn't been told about it but he said it happened all the time and he'd be right there. After my return to the room the phone rang from the front desk, and I told him I'd spoken with housekeeping. He stated that we could wait or change rooms. We decided to change rooms. We had to gather all of our luggage, traipse back to the lobby and exchang keys. He stated he'd give me 1,000 bonus points for my trouble. Breakfast had great options and the housekeeping gentleman was very nice. The seating option of the chaise was extremely bad. The design is not comfortable. Staybridge sofa with chaise is much better. Upon viewing my points for this stay I see no 1,000 bonus points that he promised. I won't be back. Staybridge or Marriott from now on.

Excellent service! Very friendly and courteous customer service. Always looking for ways to assist us and make our stay more comfortable. The entire hotel was very clean. Comfortable beds and rooms. Tasty breakfast with many options. We would definitely stay here again.

The rate was changed 3 times and they never would honor the rate that was promised to me on the phone. Upon complaining they reduced the rate by $7.00 per night instead of the $101.50 per night they overcharged me.

I'm very confident that our room had not been vacuumed at all. There were strands of hair all over the bathroom and on the tile when you walked in the room. There was also a hairball on the shower drain. Other than that tho the room appeared to be clean. I noticed the next morning that when we were checking out that the 2 gentlemen that were cleaning rooms nearby ours only had a small hamper on wheels. I did not see any vacuum cleaner with them which makes sense because our room was not vacuumed. Very odd for a otherwise nice hotel.

We were very satisfied with this hotel. First of all, we missed our flight due to missing a connection (airline's fault, got a free hotel where we were stranded fyi). The staff at Holiday Inn in Ottawa was very helpful in allowing my mother to get us checked in. We didn't get a chance to fully thank them but it was very much appreciated in a hectic Christmas time. The hotel is very modern. The lobby is nice and clean and the rooms are great. The staff was always kind and accommodating. The laundry room was easy to manage and you can buy one load of detergent from the front desk. Finally, the breakfast was excellent. I have had many free hotel breakfasts and this is definitely one of the better ones. One odd thing for us, coming from outside the U.S. after the pandemic, is that they only offer housekeeping every 5 days unless requested, in which you fill out a form with details of your request. I haven't been Stateside in awhile and this is my first time to experience this, but it seems to be what's going on all over American hotels now and they were friendly in fulfilling our request so it's all good. Just be aware of it if you don't know this exists.

Courteous desk personnel. Facility and rooms were very clean and modern. Slept wonderfully in a comfortable bed with black out shades. Walk in shower ( no tub to climb over) Nice breakfast included omlets, scrambled eggs, turkey patties, oatmeal, fruit, granola bars, cinnamon rolls, juice, coffee, dry cereal options. Exceptionally clean and even as we ate, a man was spraying and cleaning the area.

Great location to stay while in town for some hiking at Starved Rock. Staff was welcoming and friendly, breakfast was varied and tasty, room was clean and bright, and bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if back in the area.
