Or the landlord's more prosaic City Terrace Apartment! This is a new 2 bedroom apartment in Nelson, part of a development of 3, nestled between a parking garage on one side and a cosmetics factory on the other. The view to the front is of a Mobil 24 hour petrol station and Dayman's Used Car lot; to the rear is another apartment and a corrugated metal roof. Inside it is rather chic; polished concrete walls, 2 good bedrooms, 2 good bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a lounge area with trendy but uncomfortable loungers. We were given a cursory show round by Rob, who finished by telling us that if we needed help or information not to phone him, as he is far too busy to take calls from us!. In the apartment was a 31 page compendium of info, the first 14 pages being a list of "Do's & Don'ts" and all the extra charges one might incur; a 2 hour leaving extension $50 Too much garbage; a charge Too much utility use; a charge too long to clean; a charge. but we were delighted to learn that did not have to launder our linens before leaving! And if you missed any of this there were 3 pages of notes stuck on the fridge door. This is an expensive place to stay, costing just under NZ$400 per day for a 10 day stay There is no cleaning offered over this time. There is no linen change offered . There is no towel change offered. But management's attitude to lowering costs is best demonstrated by the fact that they left us HALF a Jcloth in the kitchen for the 10 days; Yes, they tear one in half! So, a nice place taken downmarket by poor management who appear to want to squeeze as much out of customers; no repeat business here. FOOTNOTE; the owners have seen this in draft, & felt it was unfair; they said all we had to do was call & arrange for the extra services. I rest my case.
