Hotel in zona Otsuki City Local Material Museum, Ōtsuki

For the price of this hotel, you can’t go wrong. Love the location and the view of Mount Fuji. This is a basic local hotel surrounded by much more expensive accommodations. We stay for 2 nights during the autumn light illumination festival. I have requested for a Mount Fuji view room. Worth the extra dollars to admire the beauty. The challenge is always trying to get a room during the peak season like cherry blossoms or autumn leaves season. Better book well in advance. This hotel offers free parking and free breakfast, simple but yet complete meal. The hotel looks like it had recently been remodel or upgraded from another establishment. The hotel surrounding and finish looks well maintained. Highly recommended stay.

The location of the hotel is fantastic for sunset viewing. There is plenty of parking across the road, with a surfeit of basically unnecessary staff. We had a reasonable-sized room with large windows and a wonderful panorama of the lake and Mount Fuji. That's all that's positive. The hotel is in two parts: the original building and an annexe. It is NOT suitable for wheelchair users trying to get to a restaurant. There are too many steps, twists and turns. There are lifts to find rooms in part A or part B, and the locations of the onsens (which switch between male and female every day - nice views, though). The signage is rare and confusing. As a stocky European (100Kg), I had immense difficulty sleeping on a very thin futon. The electric heater in the room blasts an unhealthy stream of hot air. Switch off this health risk and you FREEZE (we were there in late October). The hotel is relatively expensive, so you'd expect quality rooms. What you get is the uniform Japanese army-style sp****, goose**** green-walled room that you'd find in business hotels at half the room rate of this laughingly named 'NEW CENTURY' place. Minimalist, to say the least (in reality, pinched, lacking in generosity and well-being). At least there was a fridge (with a freezer icebox!!) In a series of measures as a response to the risks of COVID, there were no real glasses - just paper cups, and a message asking you to close the toilet lid before flushing. Disappointingly, the toilet was untypically low quality - no little hand-washing basin and fountain on the top of the toilet, and thus no towel in the toilet itself. (So, mucky hands grasping two sets of door handles to wash your hands. How's that for customary Japanese hygiene?) We (a group of 13 people - I was the only gaijin...) had booked an evening meal, room and breakfast the next morning. Dinner? Again, for the price, you'd expect a nice piece of fish (probably from the lake) right? NO way. We got a few bits of sukiyaki, and mean little dishes with bits and pieces of this and that... I've eaten MUCH better food in izakayas and bars throughout Japan. My opinion was echoed by most of our party. Breakfast was below ordinary. Simple, plain, dull. Something to dispense with quickly. Taking fuel on board, that's all. The service in the restaurant was desultory (= awful, ungracious). During dinner, a stocky old lady granted me the opportunity to be bumped TWICE by her capacious bottom as she served the person next to me. I complained and pushed back, to the accompaniment of giggles from her lithe, unobtrusive colleagues. Mercifully I was spared any further encounter with this voluminous rear end at breakfast. The staff at breakfast time were a) limited in number b) slow and c) VERY detached. One had the feeling they were cleaning staff put into waiting uniforms. Per person, we paid over 13,000 yen. Frankly, an outrageous price. The ONLY benefit was the view. For that, you don't need a hotel room. A bus tour will

I stayed at the Kogetsu for 2 nights in May and it was an unforgettable experience. Every detail was beautiful and thoughtful. I booked rather late and was not able to book the same room, so the first night I stayed in a Standard Western Style twin w open-air bath; and the second night in a Standard Japanese Modern w open-air bath (Triple). Both were on the 3rd (of 5) floors and both had stunning views of Mt Fuji. Both incorporated both Japanese and Western style. The first room had wood floors throughout and half-shoji screen doors so you could separate the bedroom and dining areas. It also had a small walk-in closet. The outdoor onsen was quite large (could easily fit 4 adults) and the patio was wider than in the Triple room. I posted pics of the Standard Western Style Twin and will post the pics of the Triple separately. In contrast the Triple room was larger and there was a gorgeous daybed (which becomes the 3rd bed) with windows on either side overlooking Mt Fuji. The onsen was a bit smaller (could easily fit 2 adults). The bedroom was carpeted, dining area had tatami-style mats, and hallway had wood floors. There was a wardrobe rather than walk-in closet in this room. Both rooms had a wet area for washing up before the onsen, a separate powder room, and separate toilet room. Honestly, you can’t go wrong - both rooms were gorgeous. I felt lucky to be here. One thing to note is that there is a boat launch beside the ryokan, so my open-air onsen on 3rd floor was not super private (there’s a screen to pull down if you want privacy, but it obscures the view). The 4th/5th floors would have more feeling of privacy. The kaiseki meals were beautifully displayed and delicious. The 2 nights’ menus were different but followed a similar (but not identical) format: 1) Aperitif, 2) Seasonal appetizers, 3) Soup, 4) Sashimi, 5) Main course (hot), 6) Steamed fish, 7) Grilled fish, 8) Palette cleanser, 9) simmered dish, 10) rice dish, and 11) dessert. My nakai, Fumiko-san, was lovely - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was also included - it was half- buffet, with an elegant bento box with appetizers and tamago. It also included delicious tempura, made to order and delivered to your table. The hotel has a happy hour from 2:30-6:30 where a limited selection of tea, coffee, nonalcoholic drinks, beer and wine are free. You can enjoy them on the gorgeous terrace overlooking Mt Fuji with your feet soaking in the footpath (just not in your room). Lastly there are shuttles every morning to Kawaguchiko Station or any of the tourist sights on the way, and the hotel will send a shuttle to pick you up when you are ready to come back. The location of this ryokan could not be better - close to some great museums and on the North shore of the lake, which has the best views (and away from the touristy South shore).

Mio marito e io siamo rimasti qui per una notte all'inizio di ottobre 2020. Il tempo di check-in era alle 2:00, e i membri del personale erano molto efficienti e gentili, vestiti in bellissimo “yukata”. La stanza aveva un bel arredamento, con due letti matrimoniali e una TV, un'area separata con un'altra TV e minibar, e una grande zona di cantina/letto vicino alla finestra da cui si poteva vedere un grande monte Fuji. C’era un bagno in camera e una doccia separata che portavano a un bagno caldo all’aperto che non era troppo caldo, e non dovevo neanche aggiungere acqua fredda. C'era un bagno caldo (per le donne solo) e un bel bagno di primavera più grande in diverse piantine. Possono essere riservati altri bagni familiari più piccoli. Nota che le tute nelle stanze non devono essere prese a questi bagni, poiché le forniture sono localizzate. La stanza ha anche un altro tipo di giardino/slack che può essere indossato in tutto l'hotel. (Nota che si può chiedere in anticipo sulle dimensioni di questi articoli). Le socce “Tabi” sono state fornite gratuitamente nella nostra stanza, e per ciascuno di noi sono state fornite asciugamani e attrezzi da bagno. Sono state fornite due bottiglie d'acqua gratuite, ma i prodotti immagazzinati nel frigorifero minibar devono essere pagati al check-out (come spiegato dall'acquirente della stanza al check-in). La stanza ha una bella selezione di tè e caffè, con una bella tazza di tè giapponese e un complimentare pezzo di cioccolato nudo, mentre si orientava verso la stanza e la struttura dell'hotel. Il livello della nostra camera includeva un free “Taiko” show in sera (2 shows every night), con il nostro inizio alle 8:45 (la seconda). Abbiamo scelto il Giappone per entrambe le sedute, ma abbiamo preferito la qualità del pasto di frattura, che era molto delizioso.

Very nice mountain view from room. The public baths located on 7th floor are amazing as the one in open space is extraordinary. Very relaxing and comfortable in summer night. The buffet breakfast and dinner provide many choices of different cuisine. Overall speaking, very good choice I have made. I will sure will pick Mystays again.

Stayed for two nights and finally I got a much better sleep for the first time on my 2 week trip! Breakfast was ok, not fantastic-the place seems very deserted with many shops shuttered quite early on and streets dark. The bath was decent but nothing to shout about. Overall a value for money place just don’t expect too much

Depende dalla stanza, ma quando aprivo la finestra per vedere il lago e andare al balcone, la stanza era circa 40 cm alta come un alto bastone. Il mio ginocchio è molto doloroso, quindi mi dispiace.I bambini e gli anziani sarebbero pericolosi se non si prendevano cura di loro. Quando ho aperto la luce sulla specchia, la forma della luce era buia, e ho scoperto che mia moglie non aveva alcun effetto. Quando ho guardato la testa, finalmente ho visto la polvere della luce, e io e mia moglie ridevano amaramente. A proposito, sono andato a fare il bagno, ma forse avrei qualche, ma non vedo il panorama della piscina aperta in cui sono entrato. Per quanto riguarda i pasti, è difficile dire che il condimento è stile giapponese (forse il design degli stranieri). Non penso sia ”gustoso”, e è ormai obsoleto, e i vantaggi della cucina giapponese sono scomparsi.Sono deluso. Oh, sì, c'è Wi-Fi, ma stranamente non c'è niente nel manuale. Quando ho chiesto alla reception, gliel'ho detto oralmente, e'molto inamichevole.Inoltre, il manico di lavatrice è molto piccolo, difficile da usare per gli anziani e i bambini. Inoltre, nella stanza giapponese, a causa dell'adeguamento dell'installazione della TV, la posizione delle immagini tra il pavimento è in direzione sinistra?Il cibo nella stanza lascia una buona impressione, ma in generale è deludente.

Auberge familiale avec un emplacement idéal et un très bon rapport qualité prix pour une expérience traditionnelle. Petit hôtel situé en face de la gare et à même pas 10min de ballade du lac ce qui permet de comprendre la structuration de la ville. Vue directe sur le Mon Fuji. Nous avions demandé une chambre traditionnelle avec vue sur Fuji et vains été exhaussés. La vue n est pas la plus naturelle puisque les fils électriques de la ville passent devant (descendre devant l hôtel pour ne plus les avoir) mais pour nous c est la seule vie entière que nous en avons car le reste du temps il était dans la brume. Sol tatami, 4 lits futons à sortir du placard, frigidaire, placard, clim,TV, table basse avec service japonais pour le thé (thé, bols, bouilloire japonaise) ainsi que 4 kimonos (pyjamas) pour une belle expérience photographique . Salle de bain petite mais fonctionnelle comme souvent au Japon, shampoing, gel douche fournis. Personnel très gentil et ouvert à la discussion (2 papis). Micro onde au RDC, pas de petit dej mais 7eleven ou familymart (supérettes) à côté.

We had booked a room for Fuji view, and indeed we were greeted with a magnificent view of the kawaguchiko lake & Mt Fuji. The staffs were friendly & helpful. Room was comfortable, everything was clean, however the bathroom had no where to hang our towels- I think that can be improved. Also, the hotel is located on a small hill, which can only be accessed via a very steep road up. I strongly recommend to rent a car when you are staying there as it is quite difficult to walk up the hill if you don’t have a car.

Pros: 1. The room comfortably accommodated 3 adults, although the bathroom was a bit small even for one person. 2. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was satisfactory. 3. Breakfast met our expectations. 4. The onsen experience was enjoyable overall. 5. The hotel's location is convenient, being close to Lake Kawaguchiko. 6. Free parking area is near the hotel entrance. Cons: 1. We specifically booked a room with a ”mountain view” hoping to see Mount Fuji. Our room was on level 3. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that our view only included the tip of the mountain, obstructed by buildings and electric cables. This was quite different from the picturesque view advertised on their website. Considering the high price of the room (SGD$800 per night for 3 persons), this was a huge disappointment. We strongly believe that the hotel should reconsider offering level 3 rooms as 'mountain view' rooms and reserve levels 4 and 5 for this category, as this feels like a misrepresentation. 2. Dinner was a huge letdown. We were served only 2 platters of meat (pork and beef) of average quality and 1 vegetable platter for Shabu Shabu. The selection was extremely limited. Although we were offered a Kaiseki Ryori (multi-course Japanese-style meal) for the next evening, there was an additional charge of over $3000+ yen per person for the upgrade. Despite the extra cost, this option seemed more appealing as we did not want to have the same Shabu Shabu two nights in a row.
