Abu Hayat Cave Suites is a boutique cave hotel that has luxury rooms for accommodation. We had reserved a cave suite for 3 (triple sharing) through our contact in Cappadocia based upon his recommendation. I had tried to narrow down the search for a cave hotel in Cappadocia among the 100s of options available online and it is a daunting task for any visitor who has little firsthand information of this amazing place. Having compared the prices available online and the rate I was being offered by my contact for the 4 nights stay, I agreed to go with his suggestion and got the room confirmed for my family of 3. I, of course, had researched about these cave suites and checked out the pics and reviews extensively online, but there’s always a sliver of doubt and apprehension in the mind whether the choice would turn out to be right in the end. Not having to pay any advance for the booking was of importance to me at that time as our trip was hanging in balance due to some reasons. I was also trusting this travel agent with a few more bookings, none of which I’d to pay for in advance. We reached Cappadocia airport in Nevsehir after 7 pm (flight was delayed by an hour or so) and were soon on our way to Ortahisar by shuttle bus (available from outside the terminal exit) which I’d reserved online (again, without payment). The drive through the towns of Cappadocia was for about 1 hour and it was past sunset when we reached Ortahisar. The shuttle dropped us off at a corner, which was secluded and with no sight of the hotel nearby, it was a bit worrisome. Thankfully my contact arrived within a few minutes after I called him and helped us navigate the path to the hotel with our luggage. A sweet lady welcomed us inside the hotel and gave us a quick tour of the property before leaving. It was almost 9 pm and we were quite tired from our 24 hours travel so didn’t stay back in the room to unpack, but instead headed back in to Ortahisar town with our contact to grab dinner. On the way back, we began to understand our bearings. The hotel is a little downhill from the main town square but not too far away. It usually took us less than 10 minutes to reach the town. The hotel is not reachable by a car, so one has to make an effort to carry the bags up to the property, but it should not be considered a big issue as there would be someone available in the hotel to lend a helping hand. If one needs to park their car, it can be done nearby on the side of the roads. Our cave suite was built on three levels. It was exactly as seen in the pics online. There was a small wooden staircase leading to the main level where a queen size bed, a couple of sofa chairs and a small cupboard were part of the furniture. The bathroom and toilet were on this level too. Basic toiletries with bath and hand towels, cloth slippers, tea, coffee, milk powder, and an electric kettle were provided. Bottled water was also kept in the room and was readily replaced. The entrance level had some cushi
